So I have been reading a lot about my motherboard and people are saying that the motherboard is very picky on what memory it uses, but i am not sure how to check that because I am not a computer expert. So my question is will my motherboard and memory work?Motherboard-ASUS Sabertooth X58 LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel MotherboardLink-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131665Memory-A-DATA Gaming Series 2GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model AX3U1600GB2G9-CGLink-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211450I have not bought my motherboard or memory yet I am building a new system! Thanks for the Help!!!!!!!

The memory issue is related to voltage and only really affects 1155 MB's, 1366 boards such as the one you are looking are not affected. If you are not sure what goes with what, simply look at the bundles various providers offer. They are also usually cheaper then buying the parts seperately. If you don't mind my asking, why are you even thinking of 1366 hardware?

You can visit sites like Crucial and simply fill in your motherboard's make and model, and it will tell you what you need.

Well I am on a budget and I am not the computer expert. Is there something wrong with the 1366?

Why are you getting an X58 board instead of a P67? Do you already own the CPU or something?

You're planning to buy the old generation of i7 then. The "Sandy Bridge" i5s and i7s are out now and they're better than the old ones - get one of those, the i5 2500K or the i7 2600K, and a P67 based motherboard.

Make sure you buy dual channel ram for this mainboard.

the P67 platform is a wast for games, completely different architechture. The core i7 and core i5 for that platform has intergrated GPUs in the cpu die.FSX Needs more. in addition to it has already been recalled for bad chipsets. The X58 system will run FSX just fine and go to the the asus website look up the saberthooth board and download their QVL(qualified vendors list) you will find a whole bunch of memory that will be compatible. Plus even though the x58 is old its the onlyplatform that has true SLI or CrossfireX support and the only one that supports 6 cores as far as intel based boards are concened

Maybe surf this ASUS websiteclick memory/Device Support and download what you need?AND, if you buy your stuff at a decent shop, have them confirm by e-mail that everything you buy is compatible. If it's not, you give it right back. Also take into consideration the remark about why buying a 1366 platform. For FS it's -to my opinion- not worth it.Best Regards,Bert Van Bulck

Sorry, but "cbboy" is talking through his (or her) backside and clearly does not know what they are talking about. He (or she) is confusing motherboard chipsets with CPU die features and coming out with meaningless drivel as a result.Brendon, the memory you quoted will work, but... it is not a good match for either motherboard you quoted. One reason 1366 boards are more expensive then equivelent 1155 and 1156 boards is that they support triple channel memory. The kit you quoted is a dual channel set. It will work, but it will not use the features you paid extra to get. The same memory will work on a 1156 but again, you are paying for extra for features you will not be able to use. If you read the specs, you will see that that memory needs 1.6v to acheive the impressive performance figures quoted, but the 1156 boards are not comfortable with memory that is much over 1.5v so you will have to downgrade the memory to use it safely. With your current level of knowledge, I am not sure I would recommend that you go the DIY route, I would suggest instead that you pick a budget and get the pre-overclocked kit that does everything you need for that price. If you are replacing an existing working system, you will need to pick a CPU and matching motherboard, memory and cooler. If you are starting from scratch, you will also need a case, power supply, graphics card, monitor, storage and OS. A good example of complete overclocked bundles can be found here.

I am also trying to buy a computer that will play FSX. I have a sabertooth and i7 950 waiting on hold for me but not sure what to buy. You guys are confusing me. Who is using a computer out there that FSX can run with sliders maxed out without a problem. What are the PC components

Ok I am getting way confused with all of this going back and forth, all I need is a simple answer because i am not an expert on this, I had some help with ryan, and he told me the other CPU and motherboard because he thought that it would help me., I plan on taking his advice because he knows a lot more than I do, but my big this is what memory to get.SO do you all think that i should get new memory for the board or keep it the same? Thats where I am having the big trouble, keep in mind that i am going to be using the update list that i made. the p67 motherboard and the newer CPUi7And the reason that I am doing DIY is because my brother is a computer guy and is going to build it for me, but he does not know anything about FSX or what it requires, that is why I posted the stuff here because there are a lot of you who know what they are talking about what I would need for FSX and willing to help me.
