April 4, 201115 yr The attached pic shows a view of a reconstruction of RAF Silloth in northern England, payware from FlightSim Store. It's a fine piece of work, but the white squares you can see are billboard objects* that should show as trees around the buildings, and the textures aren't showing up. There's a similar issue with their RAF Scampton. These particular trees are contained, as far as I can tell, in a file called trees.bgl. Decompiling the file trees.bgl, the relevant objects are all described as:<LibraryObject name="ac8cc646c23e405490508331141e4230" scale="1.00" />..and there's a list of these (same name throughout) for each tree location. I can get rid of the failed objects by disabling the BGL file, but that isn't really a solutionIf anyone can shed light on what's going wrong here, or where I should be looking to fix it, I'd be most grateful. Never had this happen in other scenery as yet.*Just to elucidate; a billboard object is a flat 3D object upon which is laid a texture+alpha channel, and that always faces the virtual camera. Commonly used for trees & plants and giving the illusion of true 3D.
April 6, 201115 yr HelloThere is a support link on the Flightsim store RAF Silloth page which will open up your email client with a new email addressed to : [email protected] do know that SDB team members occasionally show up over at the Sim-outhouse forums, may be worth asking over there as they seem more focused on the military side of things.I would guess you are missing a tree library or it associated textures, no idea which one though.
April 7, 201115 yr If anyone can shed light on what's going wrong here, or where I should be looking to fix it, I'd be most grateful. Never had this happen in other scenery as yet. This problem (with other sceneries) is often discussed and usually arises when more than one scenery is provided with and uses the same tree library, but one of them doesn't have all of the textures used by the other. FS will use the first library it finds and not necessarily the one provided with the scenery.A couple of things you could try:Search for duplicate copies of the library and disable all but one (not foolproof as some may have other names) Re-arrange the order of scenery layers so your Silloth scenery loads in a different order against your other sceneries John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
April 7, 201115 yr Author Many thanks for the responses! I'll explore the various possibilities & suggestions offered asap.Cheers.
April 8, 201115 yr Raindance,I've had this problem before too but with other airports. It's caused by (tree) textures being searched for in the wrong folder even if they are in fact present in Silloth's own texture folder.Have a look through your Silloth's texture folder and copy/paste any tree textures found in there to your main FS9 texture folder but do not overwrite. This usually helps.Good luckHans
April 9, 201115 yr I bought Silloth after reading about it here (thanks Raindance) & have no problems with trees. The texture problem I do have is with objects in the 1939_l.bgl that Instant Scenery found. There are 150 objects here but I have 50 that don't show either all or just part textures....roofs or walls are white or even whole objects. Team SDB don't have contact details!! So - does anyone else have the problem I have with missing textures? Is there a fix?
