Baron 58 Mod

Back in 2008 Peter McLeland provided a mod which turbo-charged the DreamFleet Baron 58. I have found the mod which I have applied to my existing DreamFleet FS9 Baron. Now my question is how feasible would this be with the Carenado Baron? Included in the FS9 mod are the aircraft.cfg and an airfile. making changes to the .cfg would be the easy task, but how would one go about making changes to the .air file. Looking through the .cfg the values for the Carenado and the Dreamfleet are not that different, plus/minus a few changes.I do however have a minor gripe with the Carenado Baron, in that, the aircraft tends to drop out of the sky (a bit of an exggagaration)when the throttles are brought back to flight idle (have the same problem with the Caravan). This can make for a disasterous or very hard landing if not executed properly. Also, applying back pressure on the yoke during take-off has to be done with diligence so as not to induce a stall. Which is odd even after attaining V2.Anyone else having these issues, I thought Carenado may have addressed this is their first patch, but guess we'll have to wait and see.Simeon

Ron,Give it a rest. I don't give a "FRUIT NEWTON" about Reality intergration. I have posted what i am interested in. Stop beating a dead horse - at least to me. It's annoying to see your constant griping over trivial crap

Trivial, do you know the meaning of that word? It's not a dead hoarse, go check the Carenado forum and look at the thread I started and tell me it's a dead hoarse. Don't swear on this forum by the way, even like that.

Simeon I am in the middle of writing a review on the Carenado Baron and I noticed when I induce a stall the plane just dives into the ground and I couldn't recover from any stall until I put my realism controls full left and then only about 1 in 3 and followed by see-sawing thru' the sky for the next few minutes. I did manage to land it on one engine but I could not take off only using one engine except with very easy controls. Try a stall at around 10,000' and you'll see what I mean. :( RegardsPeterH

Hi SimeonThere are two main programs that allow you to make changes to the .air files. One is aired and the other is aircraft airfile manager (aam) and you should be able to get both from here:http://hsors.pagesperso-orange.fr/fsairfile.htmlOtherwise try searching the library for the files.Personally, I recommend aam as it is easier to use but others like aired. Both are free though so you can try each out to see which works best for you.

I don't have any problems with the stall recovery even at max realisim. You just need to reduce the AoA a LOT after the stall break to get her back flying. It's very noticable as the stall occurs at a way too low AoA (take off rotation and flare problem)Neither the stall AoA nor the stall behaviour is realistic for the type concerned and I told Carenado, but they didn't change it.I think they tried to make it similar to the Realair Duke which has a very similar (not very Beech like) stall behaviour.

Peter,I can agree with you, stall recovery appears not to be implemented according to POH procedures for the Carenado Baron (almost seems like a re-occuring problem for some Carenado aircraft). If only I had FDE tweaking knowledge I would attempt to make some modifications. I learned to fly on a Baron 58 over 20 years ago with over 160 hours in the aircraft, and I can atest that the handling characteristics for takeoff and landing are not correct/realistic. Hope Carenado puts some effort into rectifying this problem

A big thanks to those that have had the "faling out " with the Carenado Baron on approach, did this a few times before coming in a litter hotter...............but GLSD to hear this is not only my sim ability but a program gremlin that is with others as well........................back to this program...................between this and the Turbo Duke, I have a plate full................B42L8

I think the Milviz 310 has the best light twin flight model. The performance of the 310 and Baron are real close, the 310 cruise speed my be a little slower. So I replaced the Baron .air file with the 310 .air file(rename it) and now the Baron has what I consider to be a more realistic flight model.

I will have to try that myself as so far no fix from Carenado. Thanks ...seems like a cludged-up way to deal with my new Carenado plane.Anyway TY...
