Hi,I'm wondering if the systems implemented in the PMDG 737 NGX would be advenced enough to use them in a real airliner.Can anyone from PMDG tell me how real this whole thing is really? I'm just wondering because I know that PMDG is the best developer for FS addons at the market, but would that be enough for real aircrafts systems? Or is there something (exept the weather radar) which you weren't able to do?

Considering that previous PMDG products are recommended for trainees that want to get accustomed to various airplane systems and that the NGX is said to be far more advanced than any -PMDG or not- FSX addon ever, I think that the NGX will also be good enough for this kind of exercise...I'm sure there must me some things that cannot or are no worth implementing, but I don't think they'll make a noticable difference at least to the average user.

Keep in mind also they are making the pressure from the ground air unit vary by density altitude and the cabin cool based on which and how many doors are open. I remember Robert saying he was (still after like 5 months) working on the thermal models for the hydraulic fluid. No other addon for FS to my knowledge has done all of this let alone one item on this list.

I suppose we can wait and see... How I understand it, the manuals released for purchase by PMDG are pretty much the Boeing real world guides minus a few items. If that doesn't tell you how "real" the systems have been programmed, I don't know what will...Andrew

And why? I thought it should be possible as the systemsimulation is that good. The real Boeing must use a way to tell the systems all the datas it needs and this must be done somehow using variables. And i'd expect PMDG to use the same ones for their NGX software. If that's how the NGX is build you should be able to use at least the avionic software for a real 737NG.If that's not true i'd like to know how it really is. Ryan, anything you could tell us about that part of the development please? Did you do it in the same way than the real 737 or are you using other techniques?

Considering the fact that one of our developers actually codes systems for real-world aircraft applications, you might rethink that... obviously the FMS code and engine management code etc in real world aircraft go through extremely rigorous error checking and failsafe testing and are not running on top of two OSes (FSX and Windows), but the mathematical techniques being employed here are exactly the same as what the Boeing and Honeywell/Collins/Smiths engineers do when creating the real thing.

For example, a while back someone said the FMC route execution time would change based on how long the route is, where in the 747 it all happens at the same speed. If this bit of code were in the real FMC, then it would take doubly long (Computer loading time + PMDG code).

I know some companies may use products in FS world to demostrate some aircraft systems, however, all formal training materials for operational purpose should be liscenced by FAA, or JAA, etc. An example, you may know all technics and procedures to do a surgery, however, if you don't have a liscence, you cannot do that on real person.The outcome of simulation on PMDG NGX or any PMDG product can never be used for operational purpose since thier products are not approved by FAA, JAA, etc... I know no one would like to face that, but in real, their products are nothing more than a computer game. But, yes, an AWESOME game that we all love to play!
