April 24, 201115 yr no idle bsod ever on my ud5, I have had one bsod in FSX so I upped v core to 1.37 in bios which gives load vcore of 1.385-1.39 for 4.7 ( I have a weak chip) I am following this thread with the greatest of interest. I don't know what the answer to the idle BSOD question is but wonder how widespread it is?Kind regards,I thought that was more an issue on Asus boards as they adjust idle vcore, gig boards idle vcore is not adjusted, and most don't bother as it seems like a pain in the __! My cpu idles at 1600, but the vcore is 1.37:( Chip is only 30 degrees on idle though. Simon
April 24, 201115 yr I'm having serious BSOD issues. I get about one/day now. I haven't changed any settings though since I reached 4.5GHz (about 2 weeks). Is it possible that the system suddenly doesn't like something? Also, would a bad RAM stick produce a BSOD? If so, how can I use memtest to test all my RAM. I always get a message about the fact that I have to test it in chunks. What I'll do is go back to stock settings (load BIOS failsafe settings?) and probably reinstall Windows too. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

April 24, 201115 yr Alright - I loaded optimized defaults in my BIOS. I'm just gonna stick around at stock settings for a few weeks and also check out the RAM.Do you guys use the in-Windows Memtest? Or should I do the boot Cd with memtest? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

April 25, 201115 yr I have an MSI GD65. Its fine the only problem is I can't get the damn thing to go into sleep mode. I am not going to bother replacing my mobo for the Intel sata problem bevause its a pain taking it out and replacing it. i9 7920X @ 4.7 | MSi x299 Gaming Pro Carbon | Gigabyte Aorus 1080Ti | 32GB DDR4 GSkill 3000mhz | 1 TB Samsung 960 EVO | 3TB Toshiba 7200rpm.
April 25, 201115 yr No issues with either my original UD3 purchased on launch day, or the B3 revision. Well, outside of when I tried to push my ram or my OC too far.
May 12, 201115 yr Well .....the SATA defect is in full affect now -I'm still using the B2 rev.I was hoping to get a few years out of this thing .... May 12, 201115 yr Author Haha! The sata defect has been hitting LOTS of people over the past month. Intel was obviously way off on their 15% at 3yrs estimate. I haven't had FSX installed for a month now because it wasn't isntalled when my sata ports failed. I haven't had FSX installed for a month now because it wasn't isntalled when my sata ports failed.Yeah, I've been bitten. I'm a bit disappointed. Now, I did purchases this mobo a few days AFTER the "recall" - when all but a local puter store had pulled their p67 stock from the shelves - so I knew what I was getting into; however, part of my purchase decision process included what you pointed out from Intel: "15% at 3yrs estimate" ....And heck, this wasn't even a slow degradation over a 1 year period. Oh well. I wanted to keep this mobo, as it was otherwise fine. Not looking forward to the mobo change out. I haven't had FSX installed for a month now because it wasn't isntalled when my sata ports failed. The 'SATA defect' only involves the 3GB ports on the MB. Who in the heck plugs anything into the 3GB ports when you have several 6GB ports? And, if you do plug something into the 3GB SATA port (why?) you will not lose any data on your hard drive and you can simply move the plug from the 3GB port to the 6GB port and continue on. It's a non-issue IMHO.Best regards,Jim
May 12, 201115 yr Author I have my OS drive taking up one 6GB/s port and my mechanical drive taking up the second 6GB/s port. With the Gigabyte boards, the two marvell 6GB/s ports are dedicated to the eSata on the back. Doesn't really leave a port for a CD/DVD drive to install FSX on the mechanical drive. Who in the heck wants a board with only half the sata ports working? Swapping boards is a non-issue IMHO. May 13, 201115 yr It's all Intel sata 2 ports. So, you do lose 4 ports - 4 of the 6 Intel ports on the Asus Deluxe.
