May 13, 201115 yr Commercial Member There's a pretty crazy amount of customization available - the ETOPS (it's not just the sticker) is one. ETOPS has other requirements that also get enabled/disabled with that option - we've got the actual systems requirements modeled it's not just cosmetic. May 13, 201115 yr I'd like to know what "sticker" you're talking about?I could be wrong, but probably the "qualified for ext overwater operations" directly above the PFD in this picture.http://downloads.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/NGX/NGX_External_Preview_011.jpg
May 13, 201115 yr There is a sticker over the left PFD that says: "QUALIFIED FOR EXT OVERWATER OPERATIONS". I don't know if it has to be over the PFD but that's where it is on the NGX.Edit:Ah, the internet is too fast for me. "A life is like a garden. May 13, 201115 yr You now... I have never noticed the stick. That picture is my current wallpaper. I see it everyday but never noticed it there. Matheus Mafra

May 14, 201115 yr I thought ETOPS was type-specific in that the type has the capability necessary to meet ETOPS requirements. Is it aircraft specific, in that one aircraft of a type may be ETOPS qualified but another is not even if from the same airline? What makes an aircraft ETOPS qualified anyway? Matthew Bellette
May 14, 201115 yr in that one aircraft of a type may be ETOPS qualified but another is not even if from the same airline? As far as I'm aware, yes, one aircraft could be ETOPS certified and the other could not, even from the same airline. I also believe they have to maintain that certification, so an aircraft could be certified one day and not the next. That said, I don't know exactly what you need to be ETOPS certified. Hopefully someone else can help there.
May 14, 201115 yr I think the airline has to become ETOPS certified also. And the crew as well AFAIK.Cheers, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
May 14, 201115 yr If I remember right, ETOPS has something to do with an aircrafts ability to divert to an alternate runway in the event of loss of an engine and that depending on the number of engines the aircraft has, the amount of time it has to be able to remain airborne varies.
