Question RE: Get in and Go

Featured Replies

I understand this will be a study sim. But what if my default C172 flight is with the avionics up, engines started etc, and I switch to the NGX? Will my systems be up and running or will I need to start the NGX from cold n dark everytime?I guess what I'm asking is can I hand fly this thing around the pattern without having to input a bunch of FMS data?

You don't have to load the default Cessna. I think the initial state of the NGX when you load it will be like in their previous planes, where you start with the plane ready to takeoff. But you'll have to input the weights in the FMS if you want to be provided with T/O and landing speeds.

Alright cool, at some point I'll want to do the cold n dark 30 min procedure (that's how long it will take me initially lol), but for starters I'l just want to takeoff, play around wit the hugs, etc etc...I've only ever purchased their Beech 1900d and that was for FS9 so I'm not used to their panel states.

Man! You gotta get some of their FSX planes!! The J41 is amazing, as is the MD-11!!

Agreed! I've got all the PMDG FSX aircraft and they're amazing! Yes, they are procedure sims, so CTRL+E to start the engines for example will not cut it. However with reading and practice you'll soon get the hang of the procedures and you'll be able to do them quickly from memory. I can start the MD-11 up from cold and dark in about five minutes now because i've practiced at it several times. As said above there are also panel states (such as cold and dark, layover, engines running etc) that you can load from the menu. The only thing i'll say is that the J41 in particular is a real FPS hog! Reduces mine to single figures at OrbX Canberra!Regards,Tom Wright

That shouldn't be a problem for Ryan. I get 25+ FPS in that exact situation, and Ryan just built a computer similar to mine.

Ya I considered the JS41 even when I had my old PC. But it's not really my type of plane. I already have the Duke turbine, which is pretty fast. The JS41 would likely be comparable, of course the systems are better. But I'm really just saving for the NGX - that way I can use it as a BBJ (not sure if they're doing that variant but I can pretend right?) on vatsim. I really have no interest in the MD11 or 747.

We really do not recommend using any other startup situation besides the default ultralight at Friday Harbor... The situation gets loaded in the background while FSX is starting up and it can interfere, we've had issues with the J41 particularly that stem from this...
