May 20, 201115 yr World of AI is my favourite free-ware add-on site. Since dispensing of the services of Ultimate Traffic after learning how to create and compile flightplans, WOAI has wonderfully supplemented my own efforts with some fantastic packages featuring great models, excellent paint work, interesting airlines along with the main stream ones. All of this done for the benefit and enjoyment of the community at no cost to ourselves. I have reciprocated this good will with a bit of online ‘folding’ as they say in London and have always hoped WOAI would go from strength to strength. I have noticed (or is it just me) that the level of releases has dropped not dramatically but quite significantly. It would be a real shame if things were winding down over there. Does anyone know anything I don’t? Comments most welcome with thanks in advance. RegardsTristan Tristan Living in the beautiful Chilterns. May 20, 201115 yr Real world stuff always comes first and that is what the folks at WOAI are dealing with!
May 20, 201115 yr Yeah, they made FS more enjoyable. I would never fly woithout WOAI. Sometime I don´t fly on my own just sit down at a big airport and watch AI landing and taking off. But as you said the releases have dropped siginficantly, which is very bad cause I´m waiting till 2 years of a new Air Berlin version. But as Jim said, real world stuff is more important. May 21, 201115 yr Anyone know which one of these options has the new Delta/Northwest, United/Continental merge liveries and schedules? I too am disappointed WOAI has all but stopped making packages at the worst possible time... Next we'll have to deal with the Southwest/Airtran merge which will really make our current virtual schedules look old if no update is released... Could someone explain this further? I like WOAI for being easy to install. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
May 21, 201115 yr Author As Jim quite rightly pointed out, this is a service where folks carry out a hobby for the benefit of us all, and like us, all have jobs, children, other committments etc. I have never stopped appreciating that they don't have to be doing this. To get back to the point, I am worried that the level of packages being released has practically ground to a halt. Of course, I would be happy and very grateful with the odd package every month or so but It would be a great shame for WOAI to disspaear completely. I just have a concern that it is going in that direction. Tristan Tristan Living in the beautiful Chilterns. May 21, 201115 yr Well, nice that AIG released the flightplans but I´m unsure what to do with it. Could someone explain this further? I like WOAI for being easy to install. Hard part has always been getting the models and then the needed repaints. AIG releases now are improved in that normally they give you links for the paints. Here is from one last week I picked at random://Philippine Airlines Summer 2011Philippine Airlines Boeing 747-400 Avsim: ai744pr4.ziphttp://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Location=AVSIM&Proto=ftp&DLID=137517 Philippine Airlines Boeing 747-400 RPC7475 Avsim: ai744pr4.ziphttp://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Location=AVSIM&Proto=ftp&DLID=137517Philippine Airlines Airbus A340-300 Avsim: ai343pal.ziphttp://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=117129Philippine Airlines Boeing 777-300ER Avsim: ai77wpal.ziphttp://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Location=AVSIM&Proto=ftp&DLID=142743Philippine Airlines Airbus A330-300 flightsim: ai333pal.zip http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=118888Philippine Airlines Airbus A320-200 Avsim: ai320pal.ziphttp://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Location=AVSIM&Proto=ftp&DLID=142938 Philippine Airlines Airbus A319-100 Avsim: ai319pal.ziphttp://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Location=AVSIM&Proto=ftp&DLID=142937Once you get the repaint, you need to also find the base model. For the last one in the list A319-100 ai319pal.zip the readme says:short install instructions: same as other AI textures only requires base model file "djc_a319.zip".works with evai models too, just rename textures:DJC_A319_CFM_L --> EVOLVEAI_A319_CFM_LDJC_A319_CFM_T --> EVOLVEAI_A319_CFM_Tmore detailed install instructions:1) Just drop the "texture.Philippine Airlines" folder into your "djc_a319" folder. (The base package (djc_a319.zip) must be downloaded separately to use this paint).2) Copy the [fltsim.x] entry supplied into the aircraft.cfg file supplied in the base package mentioned above. Be sure to number them correctly, starting sequentially with [fltsim.0] and working your way up with each additional livery you add...e.g. [fltsim.0], [fltsim.1], [fltsim.2]...making sure not to skip or duplicate any numbers in the sequence.3) Then assign the aircraft to some flightplans and you're on your way. Chances are if you have installed WoAI in the past you already have either the djc or evai base model already. You then have to cut and past the fltsim.x section into aircraft.cfg like any other repaint. Once you have your models and paints installed download and use AI Flight Planner 2 to compile into a traffic bgl file.It sounds hard at first reading, but after a while you can do it fairly quickly. The main thing is you have to understand what ai aircraft models you have installed on your system. For FS9, there is a program ACA2005 that can really help you manage your AI fleets.scott s..
May 22, 201115 yr Thanks for this detailed instruction. I´ll do it as fast as I can. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
May 23, 201115 yr well, I think main problem is permissions by supporters. As far as I know WOAI hasn't got own model creators, repainters and fligtplan makers. Many peoples supporting them and if anyone busy with his real life stuff, others connections could be stopped. So,as result, that is means delaying of packages. Sometimes permissons removing and re-organized takes long time. WOAI is really great AI provider, I'm really satisfy of their works.I removed the most of manuelly added AI planes and plans and replaces with WOAI packages. I hope they can find more free time for creating new packages. Don't angry to them, I'm sure they are working to find a solution. hakan"737"guven Istanbul/Turkey

May 25, 201115 yr Hi!My opinion is only the opinion of ME :( (So don't be rude)WoAI Packages and installer is the what ProjectAI tired to do years ago. And it's very well done !Used along with MAIW (Military AI Works) RATS and Ultimage GA, your FS looks a lot more funny and realistic. However, I'm one of Full AI addicted and a detailed AI lover. WoAI don't build AI models, but uses models from independant designers. Their packages are intended to be as "light" as possible, without dropping too much in quality. Almost all packages match the current AI standards. However, in several cases, I miss the 32bits textures on many many repaints. I also keep flying many retro/colorfull liveries in my sim, and WoAI don't help much there (Qantas B744 Wunala, Speedbird World Tails, Northwest N742F...) My fear is flightplanners stopping independant FP releases, but directly including them in WoAI packages (I don't like decompiling FP to recompile them afterwards : less accurate arrival/departure times)I know WoAI sets realism prior to fun, but I wanted to give the opinion of someone who find WoAI useful to retrive missing repaints, but keep continuing installing FlightPlans and Repaints manually to get as much repaints variants flying in the sim. I may be only one person among ten millions :( But that's my opinion : WoAI is great for the average of simmers, and usefull for others like me.Karl
