Portal 2 next fs version

Hello,I wonder if pmdg (or any other, but that is for their forum) is making their now and future products somewhat ready to compyle them for the next fs version? This because in the time pmdg is making their ngx microsoft has started their next fs and if us costumers will switch over it would be a shame if their ngx or other plane is getting 'old' in a hurry and not used.Greetings from Holland.Maikel - PE1123

Maikel,PMDG and other developers are under a NDA with Microsoft right now. They are not allowed to share any information regarding Flight with us, if they even know anything. If I remember correctly, Ryan said they will be supporting FSX for a while still. Personally I think MS Flight doesn't look like a huge leap forward, so maybe the FSX planes are compatible with Flight. But maybe there are a ton of changes "under the hood" of the new simulator that are not visible on screenshots, like GPU-assisted physics through CUDA or OpenCL (which is what I am hoping for). In that case it may be impossible to do what you are asking. Regards

This is the natural way, everything moves forward, there was time for FS98, now it's time of FSX and hopefully soon we will get better host for new PMDG aircraft ;)

Remember that even if Flight looked just like FSX and yet actually took advantage of GPUs and didn't require overclocking to run acceptably that would probably still be considered a pretty major leap forward for most simmers...The screenshots I've seen do look noticeably better than FSX though - there appears to be some sort of real time lighting/shadowing engine now, something the sim has needed forever. Vertical type terrain like cliffs and stuff look way better too in a couple of the shots.

Aerosoft has stated they will not support MS Flight, and according to the starter of this THREAD , their reasoning was that they were not impressed with the direction that MS took with Flight. According to "What MS is doing does not interest us a lot. What we now know make it unlikely that this is a proper sucessor to FSX seen from the kind of customer we aim for. Might change of course but right now we do not have any resources on projects for MS Flight." - Mathijs of AerosoftThis is speculation, but this doesn't seem to be a good sign.

"seen from the kind of customer we aim for"... What kind of customer would that be, Mr. Kok? It seems to me Microsoft is planning to get their bit of profit out of the add-on market somehow in the future, which of course wouldn't please retailers like Aerosoft too much. It's pure speculation on my part of course, but why else would Aerosoft switch to a completely different simulator and drop the significant market that they have with the Microsoft platform. Flight will sell like hot cakes when it releases, probably much better than XP10. So, they'll be back eventually.

Well. As mentioned above, it is about the same as between 2004 and fsx. Would be great if the new flight makes better usage of our hardware and not over load it. If pmdg or any other can also run, until a 100% flight product, would also be great.Time will know, lets first start having more fun with fsx for now. Thanks for your thought.M.
