June 11, 201114 yr Author This bird looks great, and I love the retro craft a bunch. Quick question since I am mostly a 2d cockpit flyer: Al mentioned that there are some decent saved 2d views; are they full panel that have a true 2d feel to them? I am just curious since I really want this bird, but I can't seem to pry myself away from the 2d cockpit. I know I am outdated but I just love the 2d view.Cheers, PeteNah, they are only saved VC viewpoints, genuine 2D panels are limited to autopilot, GPS, radio stack and radar.Henry's Cat as an airline pilot, including useful tips on emergency procedures:http://www.youtube.com/user/jimbob8430?blend=21&ob=5#p/u/11/zN9_RjmZrCMAl Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
June 12, 201114 yr Rick,I received my boxed copy at 12:45 pm today. Chances are high that it's the Royal Mail who have let you down, not Just Flight.Thank you for that Christopher.I had a feeling that it might be the Royal Mail which is why I wasted a morning waiting, fingers crossed, that there might be a delivery, which is why I posted hoping to find out either some +ve news or -ve news from other boxed version buyers. So,thanks for your reassurance.Incidentally, just for general information's sake,as we are so enraptured with this icon of a bygone aviation age, besides the historical fact that this fine product of the British aviation industry was the world's first aircraft to make a commercial jet airliner flight, from London-Johannesburg via the following routing London-Rome-Beirut;Beirut-Khartoum;Khartoum-Entebbe-Livingstone-Johannesburg,on the 2nd and 3rd May 1952,compared to today's transAtlantic flights where the passengers every whim is catered for at the press of a button, that particular flight had just one steward and one stewardess(as they were called in those halcyon non-PC days)and the flight crew was changed at each stopover.I'd hate to think of the workload of a single male and female FA in today's commercial airliners. Rick Almeida
June 12, 201114 yr Author Thing you have to remember about that though, is the Mark 1 Comet only carried fifty-odd passengers, so that'd be twenty-five or so each for the two cabin crew, which is probably less than most cabin crew have to attend to these days bearing in mind you can get well over three times that number of passengers on even a 737 today.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

June 13, 201114 yr Hi all,Just to let you know that the boxed version of the Comet Jetliner is being put together right now in our factory and will be sent out to those of you that have pre-ordered it this afternoon. ThanksRichSo,it being Monday 13th today, perhaps you could explain why is it that after placing my order on the 20th May,when the release news first hit this Forum, and payment having been duly taken, and others here having posted that they have already received their boxed version Order on Saturday 11th,I still have not received my Order?Seems to me like the words written by you above are just that, empty words. To say that I'm really disappointed---and that is is only putting it mildly---with this level of service from Just Flight, would be an understatement. It has put me off from buying anything else in the future from JF! Rick Almeida
June 13, 201114 yr Author If JF have not sent it out, then of course you have every right to be annoyed. However, have you enquired about it on the JF forums? If you can confirm that it has been dispatched, that would point to the mail carriers being at fault rather than whom you bought it from, and if that is the case, it'd seem hardly fair to blame the seller.Sometimes the post can be annoying where I am, which is one of the reasons I tend to buy DL versions of FS stuff in fact. But do buy a lot of books and so I often experience the vagaries of the British postal service, and they can make the Keystone Cops look like SWAT as far as organisational skills go.Give contacting JF a shot if you have not done so, just to be sure about if it was sent on time.Just to cheer you up a bit, try this one on for size if you thought your Monday was disappointing...Sunday afternoon I went down to London on the train, this so I could present a two-day course on Dreamweaver. I arrived at the hotel in London on Sunday night to learn that the hotel had not been paid for (the company I was working for are supposed to do that). Since all I had to do was stay in London for two days, I only took enough money for meals, which meant I could not pay the hotel bill and sort it out later. This meant I was out on the street in London, with a suitcase and a laptop case, with it raining cats and dogs, with no hotel and hardly any money. So I had no choice but to head back to Euston station to try and get a train home (this with a return ticket that would not be valid for two days), but by that time (11pm) the only train going north, apart from non stop sleepers to Scotland, was stopping at Wolverhampton, and I needed to get one to Manchester, so I had to get that one, get off at Birmingham and phone my wife so that she could drive down to Birmingham and come pick me up. Then when I got home (4am Monday morning), I had to email the company to tell them to contact all the course delegates to try and stop them from showing up for a course I would not be able to present (which apparently they were only partially successful in managing). So I fired up my computer to do that and found the monitor had conked out, thus I had to root out an old monitor and fit that up in order to send the emails because the email addresses I needed were on that computer. Don't you just love days like that?Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
June 13, 201114 yr I know you mean well,Al,and I respect your comments. But before 'venting' here,I did take the time to contact JF via their site and received no response.Points noted and yes, maybe our Royal Mail is to blame but if others who have indicated here have received their copy via the same delivery system, then it is not beyond reason to expect, even with the vagaries of our postal delivery system, that by today,at the very least,I should have been expecting,a delivery.I guess there is little I can do except shrug my shoulders.Maybe downloads has its good points after all. June 13, 201114 yr Author I figured you probably would have checked with JF, it was just a thought. Why don't you see if JF will let you DL it and give you an install code for that? I bet they would if you could prove you'd bought it, since it would be no loss to them to let you do so.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

As regards proving I bought it from them the day you gave us the HU,20th May,will the confirmation email they sent me with my Order No. and debit details do?I'll give them until mid-week before I try your suggestion. Rick Almeida
June 13, 201114 yr Author Just email their support (or stick it on the forums) and ask them if you can send them proof. They will know from your JF account that you have bought it, and I don't see why they wouldn't send you a code to get a download working whilst you await the arrival of your boxed copy (even if it was a temporary one). They've usually been pretty good with me on support, although I think you get a better response in UK office hours.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
June 14, 201114 yr Commercial Member Hi, vc10manI think I need to jump in here to state a few facts...Your order was sent out at exactly the same time as all the others and entered the 1st class mail system on Friday morning. All pre-orders were dealt with as a priority before any other orders. An email was received from you on the subject yesterday and a reply went back from us to you 44 minutes later. Sadly if your order hasn't turned up yet then regrettably that is beyond our control. It entered the postal system at the same time as all the others and is in the hands of the Royal Mail. It is your prerogative to criticise our service but other than answering your email after only 43 minutes rather than 44 I don't see what more we could have done here? If you do have any thoughts as to where we let you down then please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or call our customer service number and they will put you through to me. If your order still hasn't turned up then we are more than happy to provide you with the download version to tide you over until the boxed version turns up. Thanks very muchRichard Slater

It appears to have been the usual postal delays which caused the frustrations to be expressed. At the time I had emailed Just Flight Support yesterday and had not received a response,I then expressed my frustration here.I've now had my faith in Just Flight fully restored as I have just taken delivery of the package,so a big Thank You to all at JF involved in the priority dispatch, which as I now see,was not their direct fault as they have no say in how our postal services are run.End of the matter. June 14, 201114 yr Commercial Member Hi,Thanks very much for the understanding in this matter. Hope you enjoy the Comet!
June 15, 201114 yr As I'm not such a big fan of VC panels, having been weaned on 2D panels from a long while back,is there an option of getting a 2D panel on this old venerable bird? And how do I select heading when in AP.I do not see an option even thought I can select the heading in the HSI.It must be this VC panel that is getting to me if it is right in front of eyes.Is there a tutorial for this aircraft?Any assists,valued.Thanks.
