NGX + ASE

Featured Replies

One of the "issues" i've dealt with in the past with complex airliners is that when Active Sky is used for my weather, the autopilot chases the flight path and ends up over correcting... With the fidelity of the NGX, the ground up build, and the new platform... Have yall noticed any improvement in this arena?Cheers!

Interesting question!

Good question indeed, I remember thinking about the dreaded "S-turn" bug with PMDG planes a few weeks ago, but I forgot to ask how it relates to the NGX.I turn turbulence on for all my planes except PMDG, would be nice to enable it in the NGX if possible. I know FSX's turbulence is not exactly correct, but it's beats the still, sterile environment of no turbulence at all.

A J,Try these settings, works on all PMDG planes, and cannot see why not for the NGX if using DWC in ASEFSUIPC ini[General]UpdatedByVersion=4705History=1TNLDKDL9LS84R76QC6REMouseWheelTrim=NoMouseWheelTrimSpeed=1JoystickTimeout=20PollGFTQ6=YesBlankDisplays=NoFixControlAccel=NoFixMachSpeedBug=NoVisibilityOptions=NoOneCloudLayer=NoCloudTurbulence=NoCloudIcing=NoGenerateCirrus=NoSuppressCloudTurbulence=NoMaxIce=3MinIce=-4UpperWindGusts=NoSuppressWindTurbulence=YesSuppressWindVariance=YesWindTurbulence=NoTurbulenceRate=1.0,5.0TurbulenceDivisor=20,20,40,40SuppressAllGusts=YesMaxSurfaceWind=0WindLimitLevel=200WindDiscardLevel=400WindAjustAltitude=NoWindAjustAltitudeBy=2000SmoothBySimTime=NoWindSmoothing=YesWindSmoothness=-4WindSmoothAirborneOnly=NoPressureSmoothness=8TemperatureSmoothness=25FSX cfg[Weather]AdjustForMagVarInDialog=1CLOUD_COVERAGE_DENSITY=8CLOUD_DRAW_DISTANCE=4DETAILED_CLOUDS=1DisableTurbulence=0DownloadWindsAloft=1DynamicWeather=1MaxGustRampSpeed=200MaxGustTime=500MaxVarRampSpeed=75MaxVarTime=50MinGustRampSpeed=1MinGustTime=10MinVarRampSpeed=10MinVarTime=5THERMAL_VISUALS=1TurbulenceScale=1.000000WeatherGraphDataInDialog=0WeatherServerAddress=fs2k.zone.comWeatherServerPort=80WindshieldPrecipitationEffects=1

The only way to get turbulence with REX is downloading winds aloft data from FSX before you fly correct?Does REX do it's own winds? Or if I get ASE can that do better winds?Hopefully with MS Flight we'll have proper weather and radar to detect it.Pete Walsh

From those that have been able to compare REX with ASE, ASE comes in @ 1st place. I don't use REX weather, so cannot comment good or bad

Don't agree, REX is much better.Pete Walsh.

On what grounds and facts can you say that? Please tell me. :(

Good grief, I cannot for the life of me work out what you are going on about ? You asked <quote> "The only way to get turbulence with REX is downloading winds aloft data from FSX before you fly correct?Does REX do it's own winds? Or if I get ASE can that do better winds?Hopefully with MS Flight we'll have proper weather and radar to detect it." <unquote>And then you say Rex is better ? If you think it is better, why did you ask about ASE ? Have you tried ASE ? If you are going to post on here, please be consistent.Big%20Grin.gif

Randomness is fun.Pete Walsh.

I am going to be very disappointed if this thread turns into an ASE vs REX weather bashing thread!
