NGX Preflight Inspection

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,I think something cool would be to include a preflight inspection on the NGX. It can be simply done through views of the different parts that need to be checked and you would include the command key to those views on the FMC. Wouldn't it be interesting?

Yes, so long as there was a 'it's raining, make the FO do the walkaround' button, so we can have the ultimate in realism :( Al

Nah, the music on cockpit DVDs, and the titles come to think of it, always seem like they are from a very low budget porn movie.Al

Joking aside, although it might be quite nice to have it, it seems like a lot of effort to go to for what it would actually add in terms of simulating flying the 737. Sure, I do indeed make a walkaround taking the rudder lock off my little aeroplane when I fly it for real, and so I can see why that appeals on the simulation of a small aircraft such as Aerosoft's recent Katana, which has such a walkaround feature. But for a 737 it'd have to get into supervising fuel loading, checking for environmental icing, examining tires for nicks, checking the tail bump-stop cartridge and things like that in order to really have any merit, and there are probably better things to exhaust system overheads on than that. With the little Katana, there's room to do it in FSX, but on a complex airliner, it might not be so easy without creating a bloated product. After all, if you have the Ariane 737, or the Captain Sim 727 or 707, you will know that you can sort of do that since various elements of that nature have been implemented, but do you ever really bother to use them? Not saying I wouldn't like to have it, but I suspect it might only end up being of novelty value if we did.Al

But I think it would be easy to add that in the NGX since there is no need for interaction; Just the window views would suffice (as they did on the J41).

Guess we'll have to wait and see. The J-41 was originally kind of a technology demonstrator trial run for the NG, but PMDG did say that development of the NG is now so far along its own track that much of this notion is now a moot point.Al

Umbrellas on standby. By would it not be cool to have a PMDG logo Brolly? With the cloudy background printed on it like in the videos. Just thinking maybe the pogo stick could have an unbrella attachment Batting%20Eyelashes.gifTalk%20to%20the%20Hand.gif

hahahaI think the producers had realized that as well. The pieces from late 90s on have more of coma inducing elevator music vibe and less amateur porn riffage.

Isn't doing a walk around fairly pointless unless there's the potential for you to actually spot something that's amiss?
