June 27, 201114 yr As the title of this topic suggests, I am interested in freeware scenery that is up to (or close to) the quality of payware scenery for FSX. I now finally have a PC capable of getting decent performance with FSX and am slowly but surely populating the scenery with something other than the default, which is severely lacking in any number of areas. As I am not rich, I am trying to find good-quality freeware scenery (think ISD in FS9). If some of you could provide links or file names and websites, I'd be most grateful (and I'm sure I'm not the only one)! Matthew Bellette
June 27, 201114 yr Hi Matthew,As I live in Holland, i've installed the (here) famous NL2000 v4. Really good, although not a large area covered, as Holland is not very big, you know. Very detailed, but you need a fast internet connection, as the filesare large. Good thing about v4 is that it's modulair, so you can switch area's on and off. I hope this is what you're looking for:http://www.nl-2000.com/nuke/Cheers,Sjoerd NieuwlandThe Netherlands Sjoerd Nieuwland @ EHTE FSX: ASE, FSC9,PMDG B747-400x, PMDG MD-11, PMDG J41, PMDG 737NGX, FSL Concorde-X FS9: ASE, FSC9,PMDG B737, PMDG 747-400, PMDG MD-11, Level-D 767, Carenado Archer, Flight1 C152 n-Dac charts and Airac, Radar Contact 4.0 Hardware: Intel i5 2500k Sandy Bridge @3,4GHz, Cooler Master HAF932 Advance, Cooler Master Gold 800W, Asus P8P67 EVO rev. 3.0 MoBo, EVGA GTX560 Ti OC, G.Skill RipJawX 16 Gb 1600MHz, OCZ Vertex 3 120 Gb SSD (OS), WD 1 Tb Caviar Black (FSX), Win 7 Ultimate 64 bits, Noctua NH-D14 heatsink, TripleHead2Go (DVI), 3xDell ST2410 24" screens http://www.precision...m/supporter.jpg
June 27, 201114 yr Moderator Anything by Max Kraus is payware quality and performs excellent, his work is also found in the Avsim library. I love his Barbados and Paphos airport.http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=&Name=&FileName=&Author=max+kraus&CatID=fsxAlso someone asked basically the same question the other day. June 27, 201114 yr Commercial Member There's an old Norske Flyplasser (Norwegian Airports) site hosted on FlightSim.com or one of those sites. It's worth the download if you plan on flying around up there. Most of the default airports are horribly wrong. These are freeware, so don't expect perfection, but they add a nice immersion to the whole deal. Most of the larger airports in Norway are included, but it's for FS9 (good for those still on FS9). I think the site still says more are under development, but the project looks dead to me. Still a good package.Use this link (as Google will give you another site, and if you don't know Norwegian, you're screwed):http://www.flightsim.no/norway/naframe_e.php?del=start_eIt's not freeware, but UTX USA is phenomenal. I can actually fly VFR without guessing when I look at my charts... Kyle Rodgers
