June 30, 201114 yr This is in regards to the results of my FSXMark11 test, but I didn't want to clutter up that thread with discussion. So, looking at similar systems in that thread my new PC seems to be under-performing by a decent margin. I've tried various options, such as hyperthreading on/off, SLI on/off, etc. but the result stays pretty consistently mediocre. My specs are as follows:Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz (@ 4.5)ASUS Sabertooth P678GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz Corsair XMS3 Series 800W Corsair GS2x SLI Dual (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1.2GB (Running in single-monitor non-SLI mode in FSX)Corsair H70 Liquid CPU CoolerFresh install of Windows 7 and FSX/AccelerationAll-in-all, the system of course runs dramatically better in FSX than my old Q6600 system, but I am worried that I seem to be at the bottom of the benchmarks for my class. Is there anything I should be looking at to sort this out? Here's some CPU-z screens, in case that is helpful:
June 30, 201114 yr Jimmy,Your system looks great and should be running FSX with the hammer down. You will be stalled though if you don't tune your software. Look here: http://www.simforums.com/forums/setting-up-fsx-and-how-to-tune-it_topic29041.htmlMy advice is don't pick and choose. Go right down the list and check off each item. You won't be sorry.Good flying! Joe Brown
June 30, 201114 yr Hi Jimmy, I just wanted to make sure you ran your FSMark test without nHancer or nvidia Inspector profiles enabled? That will drastically lower your results. You basically want a clean CFG with no tweaks. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

I made sure that the FSX and global profiles were set as default in the Nvidia cntrol panel, and I haven't even installed inspector yet.

June 30, 201114 yr What's with all the tweak?I have only one tweak in my fsx.cfg and it's TMB at 120, that's it, I don't understand, you guys have the best setup for FSX and you need tweaking? Here, i'm not trying to show off but this is without any tweak but the TMB as I said above, the small stutterings you'll see are caused by fraps as I don't have any in the original vid., this is at KORS (Orbx scenery) with all sliders to the right but traffics at 59% at night for immersion effect...I've pushed the rig and the plane to he max....boring vid. as I was just testing...
June 30, 201114 yr Author Did you tweak with bojote's auto-tuning tool?Yes, per the FSXMark11 guide. What's with all the tweak?I agree that for many high-end systems tweaking is not necessary. For now, I'm trying to make an apples-to-apple comparison using the FSXMark11 benchmark, which uses Bojote's tool as a baseline. The issue is that I'm seeing 20-30% less performance than seemingly comparable systems using FSXMark11, and I was hoping to get some advice on what I might look at for causative factors. IN the end, it may be that there simply isn't enough results in the FSXMark11 database to make these sorts of assumptions, and perhaps my performance is what it should be. I've run a few other benchmarks and things seem generally solid (10k+ with 3dmark11, etc.).If anyone had any substantive tips I wanted to give those a try before starting to install my add-ons, which would make any future passes at FSXMark11 irrelevant.
June 30, 201114 yr Well, I think I have the closest match to your system, down to SLI and from what you are telling us you should be closer to 39-40 fps. Therefore, what are you not telling us? :)What kind of monitor are you using? DVI or HDMI?I would like to know the result of your first test also. I think it is a better test than subsequent runs, because the first time all the scenery is searched and loaded into cache. Subsequent runs are better and uniform because all the scenery comes from our 4GB+ RAM file cache that W7 sets up with RAM it is not using. My first run is:7752 300000 16 47 25.84Are you sure you don't have some sneaky anti-virus program or windows update running in the background that is stealing some of your CPU?I can give you 2 more benchmarks to compare with:3DMark06 SLI 31721 and 318013DMark11 SLI P10302 and P10332Something has to be different and we ought to be able to find it.

For now, I'm trying to make an apples-to-apple comparison using the FSXMark11 benchmark, which uses Bojote's tool as a baseline.OH snap, were we supposed to run the bjote cfg installed of default? lol that's probably why I scored lower than most... that bojote tweaks increase my fps but usually turn down some settings. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
July 1, 201114 yr OH snap, were we supposed to run the bjote cfg installed of default? lol that's probably why I scored lower than most... that bojote tweaks increase my fps but usually turn down some settings.Yeah you had to run your cfg through the tool, and also set wideviewaspect(or something like that)=true. Alfredo Terrero
July 1, 201114 yr Yeah you had to run your cfg through the tool, and also set wideviewaspect(or something like that)=true.Oh well I hate that tool... it does everything I don't want in my CFG, which normally leads to CTD's, from what I've discovered with my last install... All I use is highmemfix and external limiter, not even LOD change. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
