WHATS HAPPEN TO THE BETA TESTERS?

Featured Replies

Just observation When an announcement is made usually from RSR, there is a flurry of excitement and then dies away very quickly. This is the case with the Beta Testers.... let me explainCouple of days after the 9th July announcement Markadeane posted some beautiful screen shots and Lasnubes has posted some great posts minus screen shots. Markadeane post was deleted because of some remarks made on that thread, so why not just delete the remarks and leave the screen shots on?Now I would say there's more than a dozen Beta testers if not more testing the latest build and according to RSR thte latest build is nearly there or the wide beta team would'nt have got it, now my point is why can some tester not post more screenies or video, surely the latest build is not that buggy, even Robert said that when the wide beta tester get there copy, its basically to test it on there systems for install issues and get the last of the small bugs, now I would have thought out of all the Beta testers could have taken a few shots to post especially when Lasnubes write some long and beautiful written posts decribing his flights. (Now that takes time to do) Is PMDG holding back the beta's testers from posting screen shots? Is there an embargo on these Guys? When you look at the front of this forum, half of the topics are either non related or old threads crashing to the ground! (sorry guys but its true)I'm a bit disappointed that after the 9th post I was expecting a bit more from the Beta testers (no disrespect guys) , maybe I'm asking to much?I for one can't wait for the release, for one thing it will do is to get me off these forums for another 7 yrs :(

maybe they are just busy working...

Well Joe, I am wondering the same as you do, however maybe there is no need to shout in the topic title (it gets quite common these days). On the other side when there are no news, means everyone is busy. Busy - because they are trying to get that thing ready for us. I would prefer no news for 10 days and release, than 40 days news and news without the NGX hitting the shelves, wouldn't you?....

So you made this long rambling statement prefaced with an all-caps subject line to complain about beta testers not posting enough? The beta testers are not under any obligation to post screenshots and PMDG has stated this numerous times.

I give up, I thought the usual :( posters would jump on this, I was only asking a question? READ the post :( I was asking why markadeane screenshots had been removed and since then nothing from him. strange! I enjoyed his posts..... "prefaced with an all-caps subject line", its up to me, its my topic!!!I for one can't wait for the release, for one thing it will do is to get me off these forums for another 7 yrs lets see what posts come now... :(

To answer the main question, no, we're not, under any embargo and we can still post screenshots (As far as I'm aware anyways. ha). As Matthew said, we're all just busy testing things and trying to do our little part to get this thing out to you as soon as it can. I posted a couple shots in Mark's thread, but at this point I'm not really sure what there is left to show that people haven't already seen many times before. I also don't have quite the way with words that Carl does, and so a post of me saying "the plane does this, this, this, and zomg it's really cool" wouldn't sound quite as exciting as it does when Carl posts. Although the plane is really cool. LOL.gif That said, the best part for me so far is finding all the things the NGX can do, even when it happens on accident. For instance, last night I experienced the "Energy Compensation" mode, which helps the plane recapture the descent path. Basically if your MCP altitude is set to an altitude above the descent path, the airspeed cursor on the PFD will slowly decrease while the target speed stays the same. This causes the plane to slowly decrease in speed, which, when you're ready to descend, will help you capture the descent path again. Once you've started your descent, the plane will slowly increase back to the target speed and you'll be good to go.

Great post Joe.I support your points and I agree with them. It's always a big update and then we're left hanging for at least a week. And of course, the usual people step up quickly to attack anyone who has a problem with PMDG's communication and post censuring.Go figure... dry.gif

Even though the more updates, screenshots or descriptive posts posted the better they usually just end up being locked or deleted which is a shame. Maybe this puts them off posting as much as they'd like.X
