July 20, 201114 yr Hi alli've got a problem i have bought a AMD six core 3.8 GHZ 4GB of RAM and a MSI N460 GTX cyclone 768DS graphic card.the problem is this everytime i fly into a add-on airport, for example i just flown a 7 hour flight from (DGAA) Ghana accra to Amsterdam (EHAM) (wich is a add-on in my case)i've just started my decent into Amsterdam and aprox 10 minutes prior to landing it crashes, and flight sim gets terminated. and i've flown the EHAM-DGAA and i had no problems is it my graphics card?because the thing is it always happens when i fly into an add-on airport. Now my question is how is this possible? i tought i had a fairly good computer, can some one help me please?? July 20, 201114 yr First thing you want to do is search event viewer for what caused the crash. Event viewer will give you the error code and you can use search to see if this problem has come up before. Tom "I just wanna tell you both: good luck. We're all counting on you."
July 20, 201114 yr I guarantee you it has nothing to do with your CPU... Now for some questions... Does it happen on EVERY flight on descent? Does it happen at a specific altitude or distance from an addon airport? If the airport your flying into doesn't have scenery, does it still crash? The key to troubleshooting an FS problem is finding patterns in crashes or OOM errors...

The key to troubleshooting an FS problem is finding patterns in crashes or OOM errors...Yes indeed it happens every time i fly into an add-on airport at about 6000 or 7000 feet, it is really frustrating if you make a long haul flight. and clearly that's a pattern so what i did i tried many times re-installing FSX but that just not solve the problem. Have you tried with no overclock? Unstable OC is often the cause of CTD's in FSX

July 20, 201114 yr Commercial Member Hi,What is the add-on scenery? There may be a memory leak bug being triggered by the scenery, which is why it crashes not long after arrival. There are several such bugs in FS2004 of various kinds - wouldn't surprise me if FSX had a few too.Best regards,Robin.
July 20, 201114 yr It's most likely caused by the drivers of your graphics card/sound card, or temp too high, CPU crash would probably cause BSOD or hung your PC. I suggest to check the latest drivers. Sometimes it's good to downgrade to most stable ones - check forums. As for GFX, if it's OC'd, de-OC it, and try again. Check temperatures, which should be < 100 deg C on avg. - you can use GPU-Z, or other tool. Try to reset all GFX settings in the NVIDIA control panel to defaults. Do the same for Sound Card. Also, sometimes in your crash dialog, you'll get dropdown box with details of the crashing module. Check what's the module name, and post it. Get 3D Mark, and run some serious tests, to check if the system is stable in general. If it crashes, then you need to dig deeper. In the Event Viewer, look for errors and warnings coming from either Service control manager (SCM) or system/kernel, which would detail what happened.Add-On sceneries usually cause massive load of textures, make sure that you have SP1 and SP2/Acceleration installed, especially if textures are DX10 compatible. You may need to apply [GRAPHICS]HIMEMFIX=1 in your fsx config to get issues with new GFXes and the way they handle texture addressing on card with lots of memory, sorted out. Next, turn of DX10 preview if it's enabled.Cheers Tomasz Fiszer -- IFIYGD
July 21, 201114 yr "because the thing is it always happens when i fly into an add-on airport"This statement says it all. Its not hardware related. You have something wrong with your addon install.
July 21, 201114 yr Use process of elimination first. Fly a long range flight from default airport to default airport. If nothing happens, at least you know that it may be add on scenery related only, in which case it has nothing to do with either cpu or video card.tc Hi alli've got a problem i have bought a AMD six core 3.8 GHZ 4GB of RAM and a MSI N460 GTX cyclone 768DS graphic card.the problem is this everytime i fly into a add-on airport, for example i just flown a 7 hour flight from (DGAA) Ghana accra to Amsterdam (EHAM) (wich is a add-on in my case)i've just started my decent into Amsterdam and aprox 10 minutes prior to landing it crashes, and flight sim gets terminated. and i've flown the EHAM-DGAA and i had no problems is it my graphics card?because the thing is it always happens when i fly into an add-on airport. Now my question is how is this possible? i tought i had a fairly good computer, can some one help me please?? July 21, 201114 yr Amsterdam? Aerosoft? If: Yes + yesThen:Un-install it, it´s a hog, a framekiller, a real pain!
July 21, 201114 yr AMD dont make a 3.8 GHZ cpu so it must be overclocked. What CPU is it, There hex cores do have Turbo boost and that could be an issue, just go into the bios and disable it. Also the hex core temps are wrong and read about 11 deg C Low.What hardware do you have?

July 21, 201114 yr Your cpu isnt the problem. Your addon is. Uninstall the addon and I bet you will have no problem landing into that airport. The reason I say this is hardware failures are random and will happen anytime regardless of the scenery etc. The fact that you can replicate this fault time and time again at the same stage of the flight flying into this airport means its a software issue. unistall the addon.
