They will, Jason had confirmed it, although I don't know about the exact changes. The only one I know is that narrow stripe where the upper wing surface intersects the fuselage - on the right wing it mirrors the texture from the left wing, not cool. That one will get fixed, as for everything else, I don't know. sig.gif
Does this mean we'd be better off not working on the current paint kit, since the tail area would presumably then be need to changed again to look right with the new paint kit?

That one I don't know yet. I wrote him another PM (also because I had another tiny request about potential future updates for the paintkit) but as of yet I got no reply. All he said they would "change the UVW mapping", so I don't know if that includes the paint kit. Apparently it will fix an issue I had plus a few other ones of which I don't know. The one I have is the upper wing root/fuselage intersection. First of all there's a nasty narrow stripe right at the wing root. But the major problem (in my case) was that on the right hand side the texture would get mirrored from the left wing, and because I was doing a livery that was everything but symmetrical on the left and right sides of the fuselage, the left side looked ok while the right side was total junk. And it wasn't possible to fix, just because of that mapping anomality. In fact I released it that way because I had no other choice. If you need to know how that issue looks like, get this and install the D-AHFM set of textures. Then compare left to right hand side of the fuselage around the wing root. Quite ugly. If they change the mapping however, to me this could mean the current textures would be mapped differently, hence yielding different visual results. Eventually. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. sig.gif

Is this the reason I'm getting the narrow black line running fore to aft on the underside of the wing near the root? I've just noticed I'm seeing it on more than one of my liveries? Or is it something I'm doing?

Hm, can you tell me an example? I would check it out in the sim. Actually I'm more talking about the upper side, and the area on the fuselage directly in front of the leading edge (around the landing lights). I'd have to recheck to see if the underside had issues as well. But you're probably not doing wrong anything still. sig.gif

I'll get a screen cap for you. fsx2011-09-2314-15-36-35.jpgfsx2011-09-2314-11-03-28.jpgfsx2011-09-2314-09-07-94.jpg It's on the PMDG house livery also, you just don't see it easily because the paint hides it. I hadn't mentioned it before just because I'm very new to this and assumed it was something I was doing. It seems to be in the spot where the wing texture should join with the lower fuse texture.

Chris Hicks

Thanks Chris. Well I don't know about that one, I'd need to check it out. In fact I will. Didn't really notice the underside so far. On the upper side however, the wrong mapping can be quite obvious, depending on the livery. When I made that one I mentioned, I originally didn't know what the actual cause was of the right fuselage look so weird, so I tried to track down the problem by getting some very fancy colors onto the paint. This made quite obvious how the left side gets mirrored to the right side. Note this is obviously not the original livery but got the "debug" paint applied. There you can see the narrow stripe I've been talking about. I mean the one directly adjacent to the arrowed emergency exit area on the wing, in the direction of the fuselage. Basically the area where I also drew the circle around: mapping.jpg Obviously, this might not be a problem for each and every livery. But it certainly is for those that are not symmetrical (left/right fuselage side) and cross the wing root area. sig.gif

I'm about to try and explain how I've temporarily dealt with the upper wing texture problem...but you know me and tutorials! Give me a few to open PS and take some shots of the layering. Back in a bit.
