August 5, 201114 yr Hi gents, great AC and congrats, however I can't get more than 12FPS or so. I have the J41 and had the option to use the lower res textures in the VC through the configuration manager which that made all the difference and I can get 20FPS and fly her. Also, any suggestions as to the refresh for EFIS and such default is1 5. I didn't know how low I can go without any issues. I just wish the texture option was in the NGX. At default airports with everything off I can't get more than 12-17, compared to 28fps in the 41 so into the hanger for now. I really love this plane, but I wish that one option was available. I am very, very surprised and disappointed that one option was left out. Did I miss something? Again, I don't want to be a downer, but really aren't going to get an enjoyable experience at the level of performance I'm at now. Thanks for any help you can give. Best regards, Jeff Moss
August 5, 201114 yr out of curiosity, what are you system specs? I wish you luck and hopefully you can get it running better soon..
August 5, 201114 yr What are your specs, I can't help you but I'm going to buy this tomorrow, I have a laptop, so i'm a little worried about fps, but not horrified by it either. Adam Ruemenapp
August 5, 201114 yr Commercial Member Jeff, Can you post some details on your particular hardware set up. Also, did you try disabling the F/O displays in the VC in the PMDG Options menu on the FMC? August 5, 201114 yr Author Hi guys,Not the greatest system, but I can run the J4100 no problem due to the options of using lower res textures, plus lowering the refresh rates and it runs great. I would assume the NGX should run about the same or close, with one big difference. I can't use anything other than the Hi Def textures and I think that is the issue. I have a Core2duo 3.2GHZ / Windows 7 32bit with 4gig switch running to eliminate crashes / ATI Radeon 4670HD 512Meg Video 4 Gigs Ram. Again, over all everything else runs very good. I realize this is way more advanced, but heard that it was in par with the J4100, that is why I didn't mind spending the money. Also, I notice the Fps is a bit higher 16-20 with everything off but very choppy. Sorry about the mistake on the numbers. I wish I had the new 2600K systems. If there was a texture solution (Configuration tool) and that didn't work, then my system is not up to the challenge. Beautiful aircraft. Amazing job PMDG. I don't want to sound bitter, because I'm not, I just would like to be able to get a little more performance from her. I might need more time to sort this out, I just installed it, so maybe there is a way? Thanks again. EDIT: Paul, I did try turing off the FO displays. Little to no difference for me if that helps.Best regards, Jeff Moss
August 5, 201114 yr Author OK, well I turned down autogen and scenery. Have refresh rates on 8. Fps now ranges from 12-22 with some hesitations and it's not that smooth overall. I did a short flight. I basically can't use any add on airports, no traffic, and such. Can someone explain the best method of making the textures in the VC and outer textures smaller? It's been a long time since I've done this using photoshop and something else to prepare them. That might do the trick for me. Your help is greatly appreciated. This would hold me over until I build a new powerful system as this 737NGX is well worth doing that for. I just need to know what programs I need other than photoshop and the correct steps. I did this last on the Carenado Caravan and it did wonders and still looks great. Best regards, Jeff Moss
August 5, 201114 yr Commercial Member A few suggestions that tend to boost frame rates:Options>Settings>Display>Aircraft> uncheck "High Resolution VC". This will lower the resolution of the displays (but they should still be very readable) and this may boost frame rates as well. If you want to reduce textures: Options>Settings>Display>Graphics Tab, and move the Global Texture Resolution to the left a notch, and see if that improves things for you a bit. August 5, 201114 yr Can someone explain the best method of making the textures in the VC and outer textures smaller? +1 Why use 4096 when 1024 are plenty enough? Shure it's look's very nice but....... Overall i'm very satisfied with this bird, thank you PMDG, but a option to select texture resolution would be great.

Overall i'm very satisfied with this bird, thank you PMDG, but a option to select texture resolution would be great. You answered your question there! They are 4096 because they wanted them to look nice, and there is a big difference between 1024 and 4096. Simon Roberts
August 5, 201114 yr Author I was thinking of trying something when I get home today. In the panel cfg VC section, can I change the pixel size to a lower value? Maybe that will help as well? To be honest, I really don't want to lower every setting in FSX as that kind of takes away from the entire experience. I also still would love to know if anyone has knowledge of how to make the textures smaller as I mentioned. I want to do this, but can't move forward until someone can tell me how to go about this. Your help is greatly appreciated. I will of course report back my findings once I have the instructions so I can help the few others with performance issues. If I can get the NGX to run as good as the J41, I'd be very happy. :) Best regards, Jeff Moss
August 5, 201114 yr Hello, try move the mouse away from the screen. I got sooo much higher when I do that. Z. C

Well, speak for yourself, some people prefer better performance than exelent visuals (yes, this bird have exelent visuals), i'm one of thoose... So it would be great to have an option where we can choose, visual vs performance, i'm sure i'm not alone....
August 5, 201114 yr It would be great to have the choice of changing the quality without going internal FSX. I tried turning off "high resolution VC textures" in FSX, but that REALLY makes thes screens unreadable. So PMDG, if it's possible during some time - please consider a "lighter" version of the VC textures :) THOMAS LORENTZEN | OSLO, NORWAY | i7 [email protected] | ASUS P8Z77 Mobo | 8GB DDR3@1600 | nVidia 580GTX | 1x Intel X25 160GB SSD for FSX | 2x 1TB WD | Samsung 204T 24" LCD HD | Coolermaster V8 CPU Cooler | Win7 64-bit|
