Major break issue?

Featured Replies

When the brakes are operating anyhow, FSX displays a small red BRAKES annunciator lit up at the lower left corner of the screen. Do you see that annunciator when you experience this problem or not? If you don't see the annunciator, then most probably I guess it is not a brakes issue. You can also check that FSX is displaying this annunciator properly by trying to use the brakes normally before you takeoff, or look for it after landing while the autobrake is operating.

I have my .cfg file set to not display the red text whenever the pb or breaks in general are applied. But I am certain the breaks work before takeoff. Only the pb works after landing.

You should break manually by pressing your brake button a few seconds before it disengages. It might also be that that is only true after 80 knots, try that ;)

Hi, I am new to this forum. Just an idea, could you do a short video recording the landing from the cockpit so that we will see what is going on before and after the touchdown. Maybe this would help.

If I were you, I'd enable the red text so as to confirm it is a brake issue. Unfortunately I am not able to purchase and install the NGX right now, but generally the manual braking should automatically disengages the autobrakes, or else it won't disengage until the airplane comes to full stop. So if you confirm that the brake is persistently operating, try using the DOT (.) key on the keyboard which is mapped by default in the FSX to operate the brakes manually. This should disengage the autobrakes. You can also make sure that settings of the NGX are not inhibiting manual braking from interfering with autobrakes (which is not likely to be existing in NGX settings). Finally you may try disconnecting your hardware braking devices and try using the "." key instead. If you can confirm the hardware devices are the cause, you may need to tweak their settings after that.

Is there a way to destroy the brakes ? before the start I could brake without problems ...after the landing I could disengage autobrake and tried to taxi to gate but somehow the brakes didn't work the last few meters and since then they seam dead, but on the bottom left the red brake word appears.(tutorial with the really long way to the gate worked the first few miles)

.... and I also read you have to apply MORE braking with the toe brakes than the auto brake is applying to get the auto brake to disengage .... and check the chocks again, something a bit convoluted happens with them

yes you can actually!! I had the same thing taxiing out of EHAM on my first flight in the NGX today, i was taxiing out when i found out that my throttles weren't properly calibrated so when they went to full power on the taxiway i had to brake pretty firmlytongue.png so this went on for a couple of seconds before i sorted it out but when i wanted to slow down to hold for the active i noticed i couldn't stop! Worried.gifI looked at the faillures menu in the fmc and it said that my brakes had failed so it's very well possible that you experienced the same thing! I love this plane already!!vincent de jongwhoops forgot my name!!Whew.gif

Please do note that although you don't have the red text on the left saying parking brakes, it doesn't neccesarily mean your parking brakes are off, the lever can still be in the up position. I pushed back with my P Brake lever in the up position earlier, without red text, and that broke it.

Is there any reason for this, I cant land till this is fixed.
Not good for you, but let me offer a temporary solution that did the trick for me (been experiencing the exact same, although I admit I will go into config'ing pedals only tomorrow): Go to FS actions, and just enable, then disable chocks (even if they were disabled during flight, which they most likely were LOL.gif). Sort of relaxed the brakes. Not sure what causes this yet. sig.gif

Alright, I have made a discovery, it is the auto break system. I did several landings without auto breaks and I landed fine. However, every time I land with auto breaks, the same thing always happens. And by the way, the breaks did not "break", they arnt overheated, they should be working just fine. Anything on the auto break system? Spencer Hayes

Well, My first time in the NGX, I start cold and dark, get comfortable, and set everything up for a few touch-and-goes. Well, everything was perfect, until I landed. I did a CAT3, flap 40, autobreak 1 landing, and when I hit the ground I started to come to a gradual stop, however, even after I disengaged the auto breaks, I came to a complete stop on the active runway. I went to 100% N1 and I COULDN'T MOVE AT ALL, just sat there at full throttle. It was as if the chocks were in place, but they weren't. I have tried to do landing's again and again and the exact same thing keeps happening. I cant taxi or do anything after I touch the ground, I just sit there. Everything works before landing, however. This is a serious problem and any help is appreciated. Thank you, Spencer Hayes
Probably a silly question, but is your parking brake on?

Matthew Bellette

If you want the autobrakes to disarm properly, you have to "double tap" the brakes AND you have to do it with a greater brake pressure than the autobrakes are currently providing. If you have toe brakes, press them fully twice rapidly. If you use a joystick button, press it twice. Failing all of the above, press the "." key twice.

Just a shot in the air, but did you disengage autothrottle? Also in some models, I find that I have to give the throttle (on the joystick) a short back-and-forth in order to get control of the speed. Henri
