Greetings all, As a former owner of the PMDG 737 (FS9 version), I figured it would be relatively easy to get this new bird in the sky. I must have forgotten a few things since I last flew the 737, approx 3 years ago. 2 quick questions:1) After starting the APU, how do you know when it is on? I know it takes a minute of so, but which display would indicate this?2) I had trouble starting the engines. I knew the APU was running by this time, as I had disconnected the external power and didnt get a battery warning. I thought I had the bleed air switch on, and all fuel pumps were on. I turned the start switch to "ground", but engine #2 wouldnt start. I tried it with #1 and that one worked, but I still couldnt get #2 to start. I realize there could be any number of things I did wrong, but lets assume it was an obvious error. Any suggestions?

You might have to turn something off: the APU does not have enough power to run everything and start the engines. Henri

1) You'll know the APU is ready to go when "APU GEN BUS" lights up blue. This is above the two APU GEN switches, and below the ground power switch. Once it lights up, just move the two APU GEN switches down, and you'll be on APU power. 2) Make sure your Isolation Valve is set to the open position. This is directly between the pack switches, and above the bleed switches.

You might have isolation closed. Try opening it (by the packs)

1) APU EGT will stabilize at around 400 degrees C. APU power will light up (APU GEN BUS blue).2) All engine and APU bleed valves ON. Packs OFF. Isolation valve in AUTO. Hope it helps,

I would suggest reading the tutorial...
I have completed the tutorial tonight and it does not cover this step, starts with engines running, so you may need to delve into the FCOM. Mark.

The tutorial doesn't have an engine start Matthew... Ron, 1. Look at the APU EGT needle on the overhead and the APU GEN OFF BUS light. See FCOM 2 section 7.30. 2. Isolation valve is closed most likely. The APU feeds its bleed air through the #1 engine first (you can see this on the pneumatic panel itself with the flow diagram printed on it) and if the isolation valve is closed, no air reaches the #2 engine to turn it. I would suggest following the Normal Procedures in FCOM 1.

Isolation valve.....blue APU GEN BUS.......yep, it's slowly coming back to me now. I just read the "Intro" document. Havent had a chance to read the tutorial (I just finished print it out). Besides, why should I read that tutorial??...it will just take away from the time I have to fly this plane!! Hypnotized.gif

I forgot to add that to my response. That's why I could figure out how to start it.

lol I had the same problem. Whilst its an annoyance from my end, thats purely because this isn't quite your jump-in-and-crank-her-up-C172 anymore, and thats something I have to realise (we probably all do). However thats what I love/enjoy...the knowledge that I know what buttons to press and when to get the engines started (or lack thereof at the moment as it seems). :) now, wheres that damn tutorial......

So the start up sequence: start the APU turn APU gen on APU bleed on engine start isolation valve on ignition left left engine starter grnd (when do you flip the fule switch on also do you flip the left and right packs off.) Correct me If I am wrong not totally sure not used to the 737
