Livery and Livery Manager issues - how to resolve

Featured Replies

Dave,Maybe what is inside is a "zip" file ... if so, it needs an "un-zipping" first ...

  • In response to your suggestion, I did not delete the CFG with the old extension at the end, I simply renamed it without the extension and deleted the new CFG and that worked fine.

  • I just made a file called liveries then clicked the livery I wanted copy paste to the new file I made. Then went to the installer and picked the new folder high lite and then installed it . no problem

  • if using ezdok, remember to run to run ezcaConfig after this process.

i have downloaded the repaints from the PMDG website and run the manager, but when i reach the folder that i have stored them in it is just empty. I have also tried entering the name of the repaint file directly into the file name bar of the manager but it still says that the file is not found. Any help is appreciated, thank you

I finally uninstalled PMDG then downloaded and reinstalled the aircraft. Then I downloaded one livery, (AAL).It (a ZIP file) went into my "username"\downloads folder.I unzipped it then ran the livery manager ... told it where to look for AAl file.It installed ok. Now that all is ok I am not messing with this area again. When you download .. what is the default location you use?You could search your system for the "filename" you downloaded ... it must exist somewhere!

when i download it goes to my username/downloads, and when i just open up my username and go to downloads or the PMDG file i created and put them in they are there. But when i browse via the livery manager nothing shows up in any spot that i saved them. I have windows 7 if that helps.thank you

Morganlax - same problem here. Nothing shows up where I have saved them.I did like the system pmdg had before - worked fine. Can't get this one to work. I am the first one to admit I am not the sharpest with computers. Currently flying with the pmdg house livery.Dave

If it cannot see the livery are you sure you have unzipped it. My procedure is download, unzip it and then take the .ptp file inside the folder and put it the Livery Manager folder which is in the PMDG folder in the FSX root folder. The livery manager software is only looking for .ptp files to work on - it cannot see anything else.

ukflight,I went to where i downloaded it to and right clicked and hit extract and browsed it to the livery manager folder like you said. i did this for the SWA paint, and put the DAL, and UAL paint in a seperate folder i created inside the PMDG folder. However this time when i browse via the livery manager i find them and start the process however immedatly after i do this a box pops up saying this "Extracting equipment_decal.dds..." and than the windows 7 error message comes up saying that the program has stopped working and it closes the livery manager. if your curious the SWA file name is PMDG_737NGX_800WL_WN.ptp So now that i have gotten to this step I am begining to beleive that it is a problem with windows 7 and not PMDG. Thanks for your help

You're more than welcome :)Just to let you know, the read-only cfg issue is fixed in the latest download version. If you still have the link, you can download the product again. If not, then set all the files to read-write, as it was a bug that was fixed. Happy flying :)Jude

Hello,do i need to turn on read-write ? i already install all liveries with read-write off.Tested some, and it work fine.(A little question, when i play with any liveries i change my view and the engine, tail fin turn black and scenery ground turn black. So its it my Computer problem or my FSX?I just reformat my comp about a week ago.I heard about the UIAutomationCore.dll will it fix the black things ?)

One step nearer - what exactly does the error message say?

the first one says " PMDG_Livery Manager has stopped working" and than under that but in the same error box says "windows is checking for a solution to the problem" than it changes to " a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I downloaded the NGX last night so would the update be there? and if not is there anyway that i could download another livery manager? Thank You

Got it working. Extracted it then moved it into a folder and from there ran the livery manager installer selecting the extracted livery. Worked fine. Many thanks to all who made suggestions. Cheers,Dave

Found It! I had to extract it to the PMDG Livery Manager folder and than run the manager as an administrator. Thank you all so much for your great help!

I have problems with fatal errors as well. Once I have installed the PMDG, Microsoft flight simulator didn't t start any more. This is seriously getting on my nerves... I've tried almost everything. Renaming the logbook and reinstalling the Accelration pack. The flight simulator then worked well again but when I reinstalled the PMDG, the Flight simulator wouldn't run again. I've also deleted and replaced the aircraft.cfg files and the livery manager isn't working as well. I have Windows 7 and believe that I don't have isntalled SP1. Might that be the problem? If that's the case could you please tell me where I can download the SP? Because I haven't found any good source. Please help me... It's really sad to see that a product I've spent 69,99 on is causing so many problems. Thanks Matthias
