Issue with the engine's cones in FSX'S GUI and associated bugs

Featured Replies

Hi everyone ! I have a bug with the NGX : when I choose the plane in FSX's GUI, sometimes (I said sometimes), the "engine's cones" don't appear on the preview on my plane (watch the screen below) : bugpmdgmenu.png Note : It also happens with the PMDG's default livery. If I attempt to fly with such a bugged plane, I have the following bugs : -The engine's cones aren't present, like before in the FSX's interface.-There is a SATCOM antenna even if it is unactivated in the "FMC". If I attempt to activate it, nothing changes : I have a bugged antenna.-The beacon lights are steady enven if they are off in the cockpit. Screenshots : 201188193243446.jpg201188193233822.jpg2011881934898.jpg My config : Windows 7 (64b)Processor : Intel E5200 (Dual Core / 2.5Ghz)ATI Radeon HD 4890 (1GB)4 GB of RAM (DDR2 / 1066mhz) FSX SP2 (Acceleration) So, what's wrong ? Is it a known issue ? I repeat, sometimes it works fine, sometimes not.

Have you added the highmemfix setting to your fsx.cfg file? If not - add it and try again (described in ngx introduction).

I have the same issue when clicking the "details" button on the aircraft selection screen. However, it goes back to normal on the main free flight screen and during game play. I'm wondering if you mistakenly rejected one of the PMDG .dll files from being loaded.

So, following your recommandations, I added the highmemfix=1 option to my fsx.cfg file, but the bug is still present in FSX. Since the bug happens maybe 50% of the time, I don't think that it can be a a .dll error, because it would occur every time, no ?But, if it is a .dll, how can I know if I rejected one by mistake ?

I've been experiencing the same issue since today, no changes made to my FSX. Pretty strange.Gonna try a reinstall.

Try adding "DisablePreload=1" without the quotes to the [main] section of the FSX.cfg, also remove the default flight if the one you have is a custom save, you do this by changing the line; SITUATION=whatever is there now change it to; SITUATION= Also do not change liveries between the same model of NGX aircraft, you need to change variant first then swap back to the paint you are interested in. Example if you want to swap from a 737 800 WL with PMDG livery to a 737 800 WL with BA livery, you first need to swap to say the 737 900 any livery then swap back to the 737 800 WL with BA livery. This is mentioned in the introduction manual I believe.

Cheers, Andy.

I had the cone issue too on some avsim repaints, but instead of satcom I had the drone on the tail. I just reloaded a bunch, did some restarts, and it eventually cleared up.

for the love of god read the bloody intro manual.

One shortcoming of all PMDG products for FSX is that ourproducts do not like to be “re-loaded.” This means that if youhave one variant of the airplane selected and running within thesimulation world (say, a 737-800 with winglets) and you wish tochange liveries to a different 737-800 with winglets, you may runinto a simulator lock-up if this is not done carefully.Getting around this limitation is simple: Load a different variantfrom the one you currently have loaded in the simulator. Usingour example above, since we are already flying a 737-800 withwinglets, simply choose a 737-800 or a 737-900, and thenchoose the 737-800 winglet model you wanted in the first place. This easy method will keep you from having to reload FSX whenswitching between liveries!

Asus P5K-Deluxe | nVidia 295GTX 1.8Gb | Win7 64bit

Except I wasn't reloading the same variant.

I can confirm that one a fresh load, if I select my NGX Scandinavian Airlines livery, in the preview the engine fan/cone is missing, etc. Once I select that livery, the appearance of the model is normal on the main screen. This particular instance has nothing to do with loading the same model/livery over and over or overwhelming the FSX graphics engine or memory.

Did anyone try following my instructions, disablepreload=1 should fix it.

Cheers, Andy.
