January 5, 200422 yr No,I disagree. You say, you believe Microsoft is aware of this. PROVE IT.Unless they publically acknowledge it, that is an assumption in the same league as the statement that only a few are experiencing this.Microsoft needs to release a patch, or put this one on their website, after it is thouroughly tetsted by them.Again, we are but a small sample of the hundreds of thousands of users, if not more. Anyone have any idea how many Discs sold? Do you honestly believe that everyone has the responsibility to find some obscure website where a patch may reside? No, I blame Microsoft, and they are the ones who need to deal with this, so that everyone can benefit, not just those of us that reside on Avsim. While Joachim's efforts are noble, and he should be commended for it, it does not solve the problem of the Many, not Few, who are having this problem.Regards,Joe CryptoSonar on Twitch & YouTube.
January 5, 200422 yr >>I did find a CTD, and it is seasonal with NO addons ( November>21, 2003 ). ( Texture or mipping problem? )>>DickOK I have now seen a repeatable error. Interesting that it only happens during the daytime and not at night. I might try a few different video drivers and also run it up on one of my test machines. It would be useful to gather machine configs at this stage to see if it is peculiar to a particular combination of hardware.I am running the followingAMD XP 1900+ 1 GB RAM in 2 x Kingston PC2700 DDREpox 8K5A2 mainboardGeforce Ti4400 - 45.23 drivers (WHQL) - 1152 x 864 - 32bitWindows XP SP1 with hotfixes--qnh Scott
January 5, 200422 yr Already started one here...http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=search
January 5, 200422 yr Interestingly enough I was able to load the flight and actually flew for a few seconds before the CTD. I ran FS in safe mode and tried again - got a 0xc0000005 error which is usually an access violation. I wonder why I can load the flight and others can't?--qnh Scott
January 5, 200422 yr Ciao, well, what to say... Bolzano, Garda lake, Zurigh, etc, all these Landclass related CTD are NOT solved my this fix... with this fix the problem is even worse! Instead of a CTD I get a system trap... anyway, on a graphic device driver, so maybe updating video drivers they would bring to a normal CTD without trap...Anyway; I've I do not understand German... but in a previous message it was said to installa the texture files that come with the fix in fs2004texture... now you say sceneryworldtexture and sure, replace terrain.cfgIn both case I cannot see any visual difference... I've checked the pictures on author's website... I get nothing close to that... so I suppose that the patch is not correctly installed... how should I install it?!?About landclass related/non related crash... I think the cause are quite similar: a texture problem! The crash you've found on default landclass may be solved by this patch... but who says that ALL default CTDs are solved this way?Morover this solution is to disable a Fs2004 "new feature"... so it's not a real patch, it's a way to disable a non functional feature! So a REAL solution (that I'm sure will solve also Landclass related CTD) is still required!See U...
January 5, 200422 yr Ciao, cool! I get the same error with a completly different machine:P4 2.66512 MB RAM PC2700Sis chipsetAti Mobility Radeon 9000 + drivers detonator 3.6104x768x32 bitWinXP latest updates...Except for the OS everything is different... and about OS, it's the actual official OS supported by MS... anyway, that's enough to say it's not an hardware dependent crash...
January 9, 200422 yr Author Hi arexx.I tried a seasonal CTD fix suggested by tdragger.Use the default FS9 terrain.cfgOpen it with NotePad, and replace all instances of "MaskClassMap=1" and "MaskClassMap=3" with "MaskClassMap=0".I tried this with the Italylandpack.bgl, and it stopped the crashes I had experienced with this landclass.Dick
