August 31, 201114 yr Sorry it took so long, been busy with other things. Based on the Poll Data it appears that the Majority fly on VATSIM, Prefer Europe, and to fly on Sunday. Considering that people live all over the world it is hard to set a good time for everyone. Choosing a Departure and Arrival Airport would be even harder. So I am just going to go ahead and setup up with the information below. If you can make it great, if you don't like the selction sorry I can't please everyone. This will be an all day deal, giving as many people as possible the ability to participate. The Departure Airport is up to you, fly in from whever you want. I picked 2 Medium sized Airports Dublin (EIDW) and Manchester (EGCC) for arrivals because they are less than 150 nm apart and if one of them gets too full then the other is available as an Alternate. Might also be fun to do some quick hops back and forth at low altitude. The reason I did not chose a big Airport such as London Heathrow for example was due to lag. If there are too many planes on the ground it will get laggy in a hurry. Note: Might want to put PMDG 737-NGX somewhere in the comments section of your flight plan. This way we will know your a fellow PMDG Pilot and not an I-fly Pilot. If you have the time to Fly Sunday come out and meet some of your Fellow NGX Pilots. See ya in the Skies! Paul Deemer
August 31, 201114 yr If you have not done so already you should give a heads up to the various FIR's to advise of an influx of traffic this Sunday. Mark. Mark CYYZ
August 31, 201114 yr Author I used to be an Event Coordinator at American Virtual Airlines. We often had a problem where ATC would be contacted to provide services and then a lower than expected turnout happened. Well you can imagine how ATC felt after fully staffing the Airports only to have a few people show up. So I am not going to do that, especially since it will be an all day thing. The ATC in this area is pretty much on the ball anyway and if they see a mass of planes on VATSIM heading into those Airports you can bet they will show up in a hurry. If they don't we can always put Frederic out on the Runway with a Flag to direct Inbound Traffic. Paul Deemer
August 31, 201114 yr Good point, I know what you mean. I control at Toronto FIR on Vatsim and we have been all ready for a flyin with very few pilots, we have also had the opposite happen where we expect a small crowd and the whole VA shows up at the same time! Mark CYYZ
August 31, 201114 yr The Vatsim Ireland controllers are usually online Sundays 18:00z-20:00z, so that would be a good time to arrive in Dublin.
