September 3, 201114 yr Hello everybody. My Saitek throttle is spiking, which is causing A/T to disconnect at Takeoff. How does i fix my spiking throttle Patrick - Denmark i7 10900k - GTX1060 (To be upgraded to RTX3080-ti) - 32 GB of RAM - Nvme SSD - 100 mbps internet
September 4, 201114 yr Author Nope, I doesn't have SPAD. But i do have a registered FSUIPC but i haven't used it for me throttles :-( Patrick - Denmark i7 10900k - GTX1060 (To be upgraded to RTX3080-ti) - 32 GB of RAM - Nvme SSD - 100 mbps internet
September 4, 201114 yr SPAD gemerally does a better job at handling your Saitek hardware, and FSUIPC lets you filter spike on control inputs so it's time you use it for your throttles. I moved all my settings out of FSX into FSUIPC a long time ago. Cheers, - jahman.
September 4, 201114 yr Also something Saitek failed to improve on the new Cessna yoke system.Would it really be that hard to put a dust cover over the channels where the lever move, to stop dust gettin in and causeing this throttle spiking?... I get your problem too, i dont have FSIUPC ( only free version) tho.It drives me insane, trying to start taxi with small thrust inputs, and altho ive move the trottle about 4mm, the throttle firewalls, all alarms start screaming and the plane accelerates like a home sick angel...then theres landing, same problem, small amount of input by me, engines hit the red line, plane climbs, looses G/S..rrrggggggg!! All this coz saitek cudnt be bothered to make a bit of material. And BTW, the **New** yoke from saitek has the exact same throttle quad, no improvements atall - and its double the price of the original... Sorry :) Rant over. Regards Luke M

September 4, 201114 yr Author I can't find the spikes filter in FSUIPC Patrick - Denmark i7 10900k - GTX1060 (To be upgraded to RTX3080-ti) - 32 GB of RAM - Nvme SSD - 100 mbps internet
September 4, 201114 yr I can't find the spikes filter in FSUIPC1. Control spike elimination: "Miscelanous" tab, left-hand column, bottom row.2. Control twitter elimination: "Axis Assignment" tab, "Delta". Cheers, - jahman.
September 4, 201114 yr Author Spike control is only forAileron, Rudder and Elevator :-( + What is the difference between twitter and spike Patrick - Denmark i7 10900k - GTX1060 (To be upgraded to RTX3080-ti) - 32 GB of RAM - Nvme SSD - 100 mbps internet
September 4, 201114 yr Go to the Pete Dowson FSUIPC forum and request spike control be extended to all axes (a very reasonablke request), you might get lucky. Axis twitter is the small control movements caused by dirty potentiometers in axis hardware. The idea is to filter them out so they won't make their way into FSX and consume unnecessary CPU cycles. Cheers, - jahman.
September 4, 201114 yr Author I will start to try if the twitter control works (If it's available for throttle) Patrick - Denmark i7 10900k - GTX1060 (To be upgraded to RTX3080-ti) - 32 GB of RAM - Nvme SSD - 100 mbps internet

September 5, 201114 yr And BTW, the **New** yoke from saitek has the exact same throttle quad, no improvements atall - and its double the price of the original... I am confused. There is no price difference in the throttles as they are the same. Or do you mean the yoke costs twice as much? Actually, it won't in the long term. There's only a $50 in retail prices: $149 vs $199. However, plenty of places have the Pro Yoke and are selling it below retail whereas only Mad Catz itself is selling the Cessna Yoke which will be at full retail. Once discount stores get it I'd expect the Cessna yoke to be around $150 which is still more as it should be since it appears to have some differences. That said, it is too bad they didn't update the throttles although most people are pretty happy with them. I'll probably pick some up as to get up a step costs a decent amount of money which I'd rather spend elsewhere. Heck, I could buy two Saitek throttles and replace them once a year for three years before I spend more than more expensive throttles assuming they never break in the same time even. :)
September 5, 201114 yr Another cure for spikes: OIL! Some may find this a rigid way to cure spikes, but it works well. I did this first about a year ago with my JVC stereo device which had awfull cracks in the right channel volume pot. Opened up the device, and it almost looked as if those little holes in the sides of the pots were ment to inject oil. So i did, and the cracks were gone. And its still working well after a year. Now i had this awfull spike in my Saitek throttle at about the taxi (25% N1) position. Before buying a new one i gave it the same oil treatment. The pots are hidden very well inside the device so a little more oil had to be injected to make sure it would reach the heart of the pot. But it did. This was today and the throttle is now as smooth as can be. Hope it will last as long as the JVC. Oil to be used: Sewing machine oil. Gerrit
