September 9, 201114 yr For the record, Niall stole it, not me... Hmmmm, and who posted the link to that (great) video in the first place? Bruno
September 9, 201114 yr PPS (Rónán again): That 330 is really a beauty. Understand Aer Lingus flies both the 200 and 300. Which version is used for flights to the US? Both, although we do sometimes use them on high traffic routes during the summer to train in new flight crew, typically Malaga and London and a few other destinations, It's usually on a Wednesday as there'a 330 free on that day, but it doesn't happen that often... Hmmmm, and who posted the link to that (great) video in the first place? BrunoThat would've been Niall... Rónán O Cadhain.
September 9, 201114 yr Just to let everyone know, Just gotten back from school and I've gotten an e-mail from the chief pilot, [Who's a woman??? Not being sexist or anything like that but I was really surprised], saying that's it'd be fine for me to jump seat once I filled out all the attached forms. There's a load of forms, I was expecting just one or two, like the Garda vetting form and a sheet to declare that I'll follow any instructions or rules given to me by the crew, but there's ones here on medical health, insurance, a declaration voiding EIN of responsibility for my actions, a sheet about EIN being able to use my photo in publications, a form saying that I will only talk about the crew in a respectful and appropriate manner, Asks for a photo-copy of my birth-cert, the list goes on. I really never knew the amount of paperwork that went with getting in the jumpseat, but I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end. I'll be sure to write an account of the trip and post it here for all of you's to read.Anyone Jealous Yet?

Not being sexist or anything like that but I was really surprised]"I'm not a racist, I just don't like black people" Lol, that is fairly sexist, Yeh we have the first female chief pilot in the world, She's nice enough if you get to know her, but it's her way or the high-way, and that's that.Let me know if those forms come through Okay for you, and be quick about sending off the vetting form, they can take a notorius amount of time... September 9, 201114 yr The 717 is a very nice aircraft. At least you have to agree that it's MD-11 cockpit is! Sagga Toure
September 9, 201114 yr Forms filled in, Ready to be posted first thing tomorrow morning!!! Okay, I know I'm gonna probably burst your bubble here after all that filling in of forms, but going on your earlier post about getting the mail when you got home from school, would I be right in saying you're under 18 years of age?If so, could you just confirm for me whether you received forms 3D1-A, 3D2-A, 3D3-A, ect... or forms 3D1-B, 3D2-B, 3D3-B, ect please, it's fairly important. Thanks R. Rónán O Cadhain.

September 9, 201114 yr The ones that all end with the -A, is this important? An yeh, I'm under 18 years old, will I still be able to come? Please say so! Okay, sorry this was a bit of an oversight on everyone's behalf, I probably should of realised, but it's fine, you can still come along, however unfortunately for you, it means redoing all of the forms using the -B ones. These relate to minors and require your parent / guardian to sign them as well on your behalf. There's also another form you'll need to sign and get signed by your parents relating to Aerlingus's Child Protection Policy. Just mail back whoever sent you the forms to begin with and ask for the -B version of the forms and the "Acceptance of the Aerlingus Child Protection Policy" form. It's shouldn't really be any bother other than you having to fill in those forms again. Sorry bout that,Rónán. Rónán O Cadhain.
September 9, 201114 yr Phew, god you scared me there for a sec, will do. Child protection policy? Doesn't even seem related to aviation. All these forms, seems endless it does, I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end anyway. Thanks Rónán, you don't know how much I appreciate this, it's always been my dream to be on the flight deck of a big long haul airliner.
September 9, 201114 yr Child protection policy? Doesn't even seem related to aviation. All these forms, seems endless it does. Welcome to the world of commercial aviation. Don't be worried about child protection policies, it basically means you won't be left on your own with an adult [for fear they should produce a hurl from some random corner of the flight deck and bait you to a pulp ]. It just means that if one of the pilots wants to leave the flight deck and you'll be left with just one member of the flight crew on your own, then either one of the CC will come into the cockpit to make sure there are two adults, or you'll have to leave and wait until we're ready for two crew on the FD. It's all fairly standard industry practise really, nothing to be bothered over. In reality all these forms are to protect EIN from being sued for any reason, which is more common than you may be lead to believe in today's world. Anyway, I digress, back to the 717... Rónán O Cadhain.
September 10, 201114 yr Back to the original topic...I would be all over a 717. I love the MD-11 cockpit, but sometimes it is too much airplane for smaller airports. KEYW comes to mind. I would buy a PMDG 717 in a heartbeat, especially considering the great job they did with the MD-11. I admit I was skeptical of the MD-11 when it came out, but I really grew to love it once I tried it. I've always found the argument about the 717 not selling well in real life a bit strange - it only sold 156 units, versus 200 units for the MD-11. Not a huge difference there - it seems like a rather inconsistent reason for not making a 717 to me. Now if the interest just isn't there among the PMDG developers for doing a 717, then that's fine with me. Hopefully somebody out there will.
September 10, 201114 yr I'm delurking for this thread, I'd pay in advance for a B717/MD-95! I'm huge on Leo's MD series, they're a thrill to fly - those high-pitched rocket takeoffs!! An MD95 is perfect for those of us who like short hops (the 737NGX too of course) the tail-mounted engines, the seagull-like design, they're such a beauty.
