September 24, 201114 yr Hey guys, I was wondering what a recommended fuel planning tool is? See, what I always really liked about the Leonardo Maddog is that it comes with the setup and manager tool. That tool lets you load a flight plan, and then it automatically calculates according to cruise speed and cruise altitude what the recommended amount of fuel is for the various stages of flight, and as such, the total amount of fuel you'll want to bring on board. For all the other aircraft I have, this sort of tool is just not readily available. So I was wondering, is there a (preferably simple) tool that can give an indication to how much fuel I need to have on board for a specific flight? September 24, 201114 yr Benjamin I've been using this for over a year now and it has never let me down. It's not the most accurate planning tool (no individual calculations for specific wind conditions etc) but it's pretty darned good at getting in the ballpark with normally just about the correct reserves when landing at the end of a flight. I've used it on Boeings and 'Airbusseses' both for relatively short hops and also for trans-america and trans-atlantic flights. Might be worth checking out. http://fuel.aerotexas.com/ Brian
September 24, 201114 yr FS Build does a bit of that, but personally, I like TOPCAT for fuel planning and use that. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

I 'd like to have fuel planning for Cessna and Boeing's, can it do that? September 25, 201114 yr Author Thanks for all the suggestions! Brian: nice tool and it's free, thanks! Alan: I was thinking of TOPCAT< but it's rather expensive and seems way too detailed for my purposes. I saw FSBuild has a fuel calculator, but I never used it. How reliable is its prediction? Ignacio: I have FSC9, so thanks for bringing that particular part of it to my attention! I never realized it has a fuel calculator. September 25, 201114 yr FS Build's one is okay, but I've found I prefer TOPCAT, as it is easier to use. I'd really recommend taking a look at TOPCAT to be honest, it's much better than anything else out there and more to the point if you like flight simming realistically, it is the one that is most like the actual software that is utilised in the real world by airline pilots, so if you like accuracy and realism, it's the best one there is. Sure it costs a few quid, but you do get what you pay for. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
