Looks like Just Flight's Viscount is nearing a release

Featured Replies

Just a heads up for anyone into classic propliners named after minty chocoloate biscuits (also available in tasty orange flavour). There's an update on Just Flight's Viscount page and it's looking like it is going to go on sale soon: http://www.justfligh...ct.asp?pID=877# Further info on the real Viscount, for connoisseurs of the world of classic biscuits: http://www.nicecupof...us.php3?item=30 Further info on the aeroplane that shamelessly stole the classic biscuit's identity, which is nowhere near as suitable to enjoy with a nice cup of tea, but will undoubtedly be fun to have in FSX: http://en.wikipedia....ickers_Viscount Personally, I'm hoping that we shall one day see the return of the trend for naming airliners after tasty biscuits, and we may then enjoy riding in genuine ''Club Class'' on board a Boeing Garibaldi, an Airbus Digestive, or an Embraer Rich Tea, all of which are much better names than Dreamliner or SuperJet. Nice one Al. Looks like we'll need those biccies to dunk into while awaiting the JF Viscount. I wonder if it'll be up to Rick Piper's standards. You are the person with the inside line...............so, your verdict, please.

Oh I'll be having that one for sure, so expect a few screenies when it is out. There's a distinct lack of such aircraft for FSX; I currently have to make do with AeroSim's NAMC YS-11 for a bit of Rolls Royce Dart action, which is okay, but the Viscount, Vanguard and all those other old Brit props were a real feature of my childhood, so it'll be like having an old friend back. Certainly hope they go for making a Vanguard as well. Just Flight have quite a few new airliners on the way, a 'lite' B757, and a more complex BAe 146 amongst them. Al

Am a similar age to Al and also looking forward to the VIscount! (Mint, with a pot of Earl Grey). I remember the British MIdland Viscount flying over our house in London (Fulham) when I was a "spotter" in the mid-seventies. I do hope it has an authentic sound set. If not the Rick Piper HS-748 has a nice set of engine sounds one could use.

Speaking of old planes, do any of you own their Comet or Constellation?

Yup, got both of them, and very nice they are too, quite authentic although not everyone is a fan of the very clean depiction of their VCs, which look like the things have just been delivered brand new, as opposed to the Captain Sim ''retrieved from the boneyard look''. I don't mind that look myself, but just be aware of that fact if you aren't a fan of it. Most of the avionics work, not absolutly 100 percent accurate, but close enough so that even a purist will not be too disappointed. Flight model and systems simulation is very good (i.e you won't find a full on modern autopilot in them and you'll be navigating using VORs and vectors and starting the engines properly). They are pretty frame rate friendly as well. If you like old bangers, they're well worth checking out, especially for the price, which is good value for the amount of work that has gone into them, not to mention the fact that us Brit simmers ought to support a developer in Blighty which flies the flag a lot. Thanks Al.Like you too, aircraft I grew up with.Used to fly it regular on Aer Lingus ex-EGLL to see friends that I'd made in Ireland before enlisting in the RAF. The F-Lite 757 however does not float my boat what with the QW757. As regards the BAe146, is that going to be better than QW's output? What's your opinion on that,Al? Aerosim's NAMC YS-11? Boy, that evokes FS2004 memories

I flew on Continental's Viscounts in the early 60s. Loved the engine sounds. May have to get this one. Also liked the C-540s and 580s.

Yup, the JF 757 does not appeal to me much either (I'd prefer a Tu-204), but we have to remember that there are far many more people out there who would buy something like that from perhaps PC world or some other less specialised PC add on store, than there are who would buy a more complex one from some of the 'nerd only' places that we frequent, and those buyers keep places like JF afloat to a large degree and able to indulge in more esoteric stuff, thus I'm glad to see them bang things like that in spite of probably not wanting the thing myself. From what I know of the BAe 146, it's going to be a reasonably complex rendition, although info about it is kind of hard to come by on exactly what is going to be simulated. VC looks nice from the screenshots I've seen, that's one thing I can be sure of. Didn't even know AeroSim did an FS9 version of the YS-11, mine's the FSX one. Al

who would buy something like that from perhaps PC world Very good point Al, having worked for that company once upon a time after having departed the aviation industry, and yes, most of their range was JF products, which I just waited to pick up once they went into the sale bins at ridiculous prices such as £9.99 down to £1 when other High St sellers were retailing them at full RRP. It was only after getting FS95 and joining this Forum that my knowledge of the add-on market apart from the JF products improved.

I cant wait for this one! I was hoping to see an old South African Airways livery - hope someone takes care of that one soon after release. I have only just started to enjoy the Connie after many months of it sitting idle in my hangar, and added Expansion pack 2
