PROBLEM: no error...just automatic reboot of PC!

Featured Replies

Hi,I've a problem with FS-X and PMDG 737 NGX. After 1 month where I hadn't any problem...now I begin to see this strange thing: after 10 ' of flight the PC reboot itself without any error message! This happens with PMDG 737 NGX but also tried with Red Bull standard MFSX plane. I tested with Linx stability and memtest and it's ok, no overclock on my i5-2500K + Nvidia GTX 560 Ti with latest driver. the only thing I've done recently is defragmentation of the unit where I keep documents and UTX, GEX installations. The other SSD (which I didn't defrag) contains win 7 64bit, fsx and add-on What could it be??

It definitely sounds like hardware, what's your CPU or GPU temp?

Rich, Can you explain a little about what "ENB - Series" is?

Ah you must not be using it if you do not know what it is, it is a program that adds visually a more realistic appearance to you fsx world adds kind of like a blur effect to your screen, like a blending of the graphics but does not work with NGX, I have tried over and over and gave up but the new program Shade works great so not missing it really, have to think of other reasons you are having this problem, could be many is this a fresh install of operating system and fsx ? did you make sure you have all rights to all of the fsx folders ?

Its almost defo a cpu temp issue.

Are you using stock cooler ? you can go into your bios and turn off automatic cpu fan monitoring software and put it on 100% all the time this is what I do, that should help, I do not have experience with asus so you will have to figure that out, if its not on 100% all the time thats a no no also look for a utility that cranks up your video card fan, I do not use ati so you will have to investigate that also.

Richard, I don't mean to hijack the topic, but I'm curious how Shade compares to ENB. And what does it do/not do compared to ENB. ENB is a performance killer on my rig. I was thinking about buying shade next month, but I wanted to hear from a user first.

Shade is awesome its a milder version of enb but enb does not have all the options shade does it injects textures that make for a beautiful atmoshpere in fsx, I will not fly without it, it asks if I want to backup fsx files lol I dont think so let it rip has many presets to pick from also a new version just cam out you will luv it would have paid 3 times what it selling for, hope this helps. "What are the specs of the PSU " Yes would be nice if you could post your system specs.

Anytime you get a system crash or FSX CTD, you should check the System Event Viewer to see if an event was recorded. Sometimes it provides more insight into the crash where you can investigate further. You should also run a program to check out the stability of your system. Microsoft has a Memory Diagnostic program in the programs menu which might find problems with you memory settings in the BIOS. There are other programs too like Prime95 that you can download for free and check the stability. Best regards,Jim

System Event Viewer Good info sir but not always exactly what is the real problem sometimes just have to take it with a grain of salt but good idea forgot that one, so much to remember with this hobby.
