October 3, 201114 yr I'm wondering first how many here use EZCA for views, and how many use those provided with the NGX? For those who use EZCA, how do you get the HUD lined up correctly with the captain's viewpoint? Seems that each touch of the arrow keys moves the eye-point a discrete distance, and the point at which it gets to doesn't always correspond with the best eye-point to view the HUD. Regarding the NGX views, are they customized for the "widescreen" option in the fsx.cfg file? I assume so..... For those who don't use EZCA- is there a better way to get to certain views in the VC and/or wing-views than the "A" and "S" keys, and shift/1-through-9? Is it possible to assigen keys to these views and use a registered version of FSUIPC to map yoke buttons to those keys, rather than cycle through the views? Thanks, Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. October 3, 201114 yr I have EZCA, and by using the arrow keys, page up and page down keys, and finally the - and + zoom keys, I have very good views of the HUD. In fact, I have one view at .67 zoom and another at 1.0 zoom. If you use the keys I mentioned, you really should have no problem. Curt Branch
October 3, 201114 yr In your EZCA setup, you may need to adjust the keyboard sensitivity and smoothing options (in General Settings, see p.16 of the manual). As installed, I found that each tap of the key moved the viewpoint too far, but once you wind the settings down, the "discrete distance" reduces and you can position yourself far more accurately. Note that you can (and should!) adjust the settings separately for the virtual cockpit, for external aircraft views, and for any world cameras you may have. Cheers, Brian
October 3, 201114 yr Bruce, I use the arrow keys (EZCA - because I fly 2D takeoff/approach/landing on 2 monitors) .. then "fine tune" the final view positioning with the mouse. I do not know about the HUD ... I have not actually had a flight in the PMDG737NGX yet. Still reading the manual / forum posts .. installing final software updates ... waiting for SP1 and testing at the departure gate. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
October 3, 201114 yr I spent about an hour whizzing about with the arrow keys trying to align the HUD view then I read the manual and discovered the sensitivity settings (as Brian described).... *slap* FS2024 • PMDG 738, 77F • FSL A321 • A2A Comanche, Aerostar • BS Baron, Bonanza, Caravan Pro • JF Tomahawk • TAOG H500C BeyondATC • GSX Pro • ChasePlane & Flow Pro • TDS GTNXi • FSUIPC • AutoFPS • RealTurb 9800X3D B650E • ROG OC RTX 5090 • 64GB DDR5-6000 • VKB Gladiator, STECS, T-Rudder • Tobii 5 • ISP 1 Gbps
October 3, 201114 yr Author Thanks for the heads up on the keyboard sensitivity. I must try that. I spent a long time trying to get this correct (without knowing about the keyboard sensitivity), and ran into an issue with the keyboard and mouse getting locked up (not only for EZCA, but for all apps). Not sure what caused that........... but it also caused FSX to rebuild fsx.cfg so I trashed something. And this was repeatable, which is what really worried me- I have since uninstalled EZCA (v1.17) (and rebuilt fsx.cfg ad shader files) but wil likely re-install the version prior to 1.17 and see what happens. But what I did notice when reverting to the NGX views (after uninstalling EZCA) was that the captain's view was perfect.... and given the time that PMDG put into this entire product- including I'm sure the views- I wondered if people were excluding the NGX from EZCA. I also realize that other than the quality of the views, EZCA does offer a lot of functionality, so can understand why people would still want to use it... Thanks, Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. Cheers, Brian And if after tuning down the sensitivities and it's still 'travelling' too far when you press the arrow keys, then slow down the simulation rate to 1/4 speed, and that will slow the movement further. Another thing to note is this: if you press the arrow key and the view is in motion, you can press the 2 button at the point where you want it saved, and even though it still moves past that point, it will save the point where you pushed the 2 button. So, just cycle the view to the previous and back, or to the next and back, and you'll see that it actually saved the particular position where you pressed the 2 button (numpad 2)Thanks for the heads up on the keyboard sensitivity. Make sure you install the version 1.17, nothing previous, because you'll have problems otherwise. It has to be 1.17 for you to be problem free. Chidiebere Anyahara
October 3, 201114 yr Author Thanks for the info. Yes, I will install v1.17 as you suggest (I can't recall if v1.17 is an upgrade or a whole new install, but will loo when I get home). Thanks, Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
October 4, 201114 yr Author Thanks Smasher, and others that have posted here. Much appreciated. I am going to re-install EZCA, it's a great application and add-on. This may sound weird- but is it possible to use the NGX custom views when EZCA is installed, short of setting them up from scratch and trying to place the eye-point and zoom etc. to the same values subjectively? I had never really looked at the NGX custom views before since I had EZCA, but they are really cool- and from my limited experience as a pax are very accurate- much more so that I had ever created in EZCA- but that could just be me too ... :) Thanks, Bruce.
