FSnav replacement?

Featured Replies

Ok I remember the days of fs9 multiplayer, I would connect FSNav to the multiplayer session to have "radar" and be able to see where everyone is in the server.. Is there anything like that for fsx?

HelloFscommander is what I use, Aiviasoft EFB is what I would like to use but for the cost.Fscommander does everything I need but Aiviasoft EFB is very nice indeed.

ALright thankyou i will have to look into that.. Do i need fsupic for that or anythng? ohh and also im having some issues with fshost client.. I can only view the multiplayer chat with FSX minimized, and whenever I land at a hop destination, it makes fsx stutter and half the time end up crashing because of it. Then I have to minimize FSX, check the chat, then go back into FSX to do the next hop.. I cant seem to find a function to keep FShostclient ontop of FSX

I use FSCommander connected via WideFS, which gives me something as close to FSNav as you are going to get.You can download a limited version of FSCommander to look at from www.FSCommander.com.G

Google 'Plan G'. It's free and with more detail than FSC.

Plan G is indeed nice, although I find that it doesn't track all of the other aircraft that are about properly. FSC does a better job at that, now if FSC would have the option for Terrain/Maps as a background then it really would be #1 .. .. .. G

Could you elaborate on what you mean by "not tracking other aircraft 'properly'?" I use P-G and sometimes it actually shows too many other a/c depending on setting. As long as the a/c is withing range, it will appear on the P-G map. Vic

I use Plan-G for VFR.I used to use FSCommander for IFR flights until I discovered EFB, which is by far superior to FSCommander IMHO.

HelloLooking at Plan G it seems it does not have Sids and Stars which any competent IFR planner should haveSeems to be mainly a VFR tool

If I look on Plan-G then I only see about half the AI aircraft. FSC seems to show all of them....

It used to be purely VFR although in the later versions a few IFR options have appeared...G

Have you asked Tim in the P-G forum? I'm not at my system right now but IIRC there's a setting for the distance at which P-G will show other a/c. Also remember, in FSX the limit of aircraft visibility is 10nm and if you are using FSHost for multiplayer, there's a restriction there also. Currently P-G is mainly VFR with limited IFR planning capability ( no SID/STAR) - however I use it primarily for IFR flightplans for practice and other than having to manually enter SID/STAR info, it works fine. I mainly enjoy the accurate moving map feature. Vic

It will list approaches for big airports but yes, it doesn't have the IFR options that FSC has.
