Sorry for the short and kind of confusing post. The Airline company "Norwegian", is now offering WiFi during their flights. I was just testing it as we were approaching our destination, and found myself short of time. They say that they are the first airline in Europe to offer internet access onboard their flights. As you can see, it worked. :)

Wow, from internet on the ground.JimCYWG

This has been around for a while. The best stories are the guys using the in-flight WiFi to watch Porn on the flight and the irate mother with kids sitting behind trying to keep her kids from looking over the seat. The city I live in we've already got WiFi on our bus. I think that is cool as I can check my email on the way to work with a coffee. Cheers

LMAO.gif But it's true. I believe Delta has it, and Continental plans to integrate it to their planes too. I wonder if it's just a Wi-Fi Router sitting on the aisle underneath the seats or is it like an antennae on top of the plane.

Their is a WiFi antenna on top, The round dome towards the back of the fuselage:http://www.flickr.com/photos/rob-the-org/4942261760/ Cheers

I thought that's how they patched torn 737 fuselages these days! Cheers, - jahman.

I hope they didn't compromise the structural integrity of the fuselage with that add-on. de Havilland Comet 1 G-ALYP crashed in 1954 due to fatigue starting at the ADF aerial window in the top of the fuselage.

I wouldn't worry about that......These domes are mainstream enough now on both Boeing and Airbus. It is modifications like on SwissAir Flight 111 that worry me by installing these types of equipment on older aircraft after they've been in service for years without them, and the electrical loads are unable to handle the power.....This is what caused the fire on SwissAir flight 111 with arcing from the in-flight entertainment catching flamable insulation on fire. SwissAir found it more competitive to install these systems on an older fleet rather then replacing the fleet with newer aircraft with the latest in-flight entertainment systems.

I just hope they don't adopt in-flight cell phone use anytime soon. The idea of sitting next to someone who spends the entire flight shouting into their cell phone is not a pleasant thought.

They used to have it all the time with the sat phones but most of those are gone now.

Well here in the UK the cell network is so patchy that, flying over this country, they'd probably give up trying, and over the ocean there'd be no signal at all. Of course with internet I guess they could use Skype phones, so there's peace & quiet gone.
