flight video unable

Every time I try to make a video in the NGX the video allways replays with the aircraft completely shut down. When I try to at least lower the flaps for the wing view the sim crashes with a fatal error. Is it just known that the fsx video recorder sucks and I need to use fs recorder for fsx? Any inside beta on this one?

Yes use fs recorder. The default recorder fails to record even the default planes smoothly, let alone something as complex as the Ngx.

Yep, it's either fs recorder or fraps.Too many functions of the ngx (and most addons) go beyond the scope of fsx functions for the built-in recorder to work.

Thanks allot, as I suspected, installing fs recorder now. Worked very good with fs9 which is where I graduated from recently with my new build. Still getting used to the new digs.

...fs recorder or fraps...
Which do you find woks best? I've never used FSRecorder.

Does Fs Recorder adds consistent load to the CPU ? I hate FSX replay, it misses all the flaps and many other things. After years playing FSX I still wonder who assembled it, the ATC, replays, poor quality everywhere ...FSX was programmed by a crash test dummy. Luckily we have PMDG !

Fraps records the actual screen in real time, IE when you're flying. FSRecorder lets you play it back.

FSRecorder doesn't put any noticeable load on the CPU, no.

They are best used together, as in, record you flight with fsrecorder, the. On playback, crank up craps, that way you can record many angles, and views by switching or rewinding, the. You can take your craps video and edit edit it. Best way I found so far.Actually working on my first ever video now....

So I get another crash with fs recorder with this airplane. Fatal error! It sucks when you put 4 hours into a flight only to have it crash on approach. You get so ###### you just want to throw your computer out the window! I dont know if it is PMDG or this ENB I installed that looks great but who knows. Anyone knows what causes fatal errors? Probobly a bunch of stuff. I am now afraid to record anything because it is when at the end of the flight I want to do this and I cannot afford to loose all the hard work to neglect the last part.

Try shorter flights until you establish a stable system.

My advice is to not record the flight at all. Just do the instant replay, and if you like it, save it. One more thing, it's good to start and end the replay when all systems are still on (After engine start, go to instant replay, don't play it, just take note of the number of seconds that have elapsed so far, you can write it down. Now go back and continue the flight, through takeoff, cruise and landing. Pause the flight before engine shutdown, and You can now do the instant replay, subtracting the number of seconds you noted down (let's say when you checked initially, it was 2000 secs, now it's at 38,000 secs. Set it to 36,000 secs and click play or save. I like to play it first before saving. When you save it. You'll have to choose the same plane and scenery, start the engines as usual, and then load the saved file and play.

Thanks Smasher. I have not looked that far into fs recorder but it sounds like it lets you replay beyond 600 seconds unlike the fsx instant replay. I will try to experiment with the hot key for record and stop as well. This aircraft is very high workload and all that high dollar scenery is a waste for me since I am head down from after takeoff to about 5,000 and again from 18000 untill final. The replay in wingview with Ezdok and those great sounds from PMDG are intense to say the least. Sometimes I get motion sick just looking at it.
