November 2, 201114 yr Hi again I have spent the last few hours trying to find Ethernet drivers for my wife's PC Motherboard MZN68-LA and all I get so far is software to find out what drivers we need and If I buy the software it will do it all for me lol. Which would be very nice except without the drivers in question no internet service is available. I have just uninstalled Win 7 and replaced it with Win XP Home edition. The PC is Compaq - Hewlett Packard. If more info is needed to help me I will do my best. Any help will be very much appreciated........John
November 2, 201114 yr On brand name computers like that drivers are normally installed during a system recovery procedure run from a hidden hard drive partition. That procedure would probably reinstall the version of the Operating System that came with the computer. Some recovery procedures might also remove programs that were installed since the computer was first started and/or the user's data files (duplication of data files on removable media like an external hard drive is recommended).Computer/motherboard manufacturers might not develop drivers for OS versions that weren't current when the hardware was originally offered for retail sale. Similarly, manufacturers might not develop new drivers for equipment that was no longer being sold when a newer OS version was released.
November 2, 201114 yr Yup. As Robert said, the drivers you need should have been installed with XP. I guess we need more information on what you did. Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.

November 3, 201114 yr If you know what network adapter hardware the PC has (find out from XP's Device Manager) you should be able to download the proper specific driver(s) for free..What do you see if you do Start > Control Panel > System (double-click) > Hardware (tab) > Device Manager (button) > Network Adaptors ?That should tell you what, if any, networking hardware you have.
