November 3, 201114 yr Hello everyone. When I press the Terrain button on the EFIS panel I see the word "TERR" displayed on the ND. Just under this there are two 3 digit numbers, these numbers change quite often and are yellow on the ground, green in the air,and sometimes one will be red depending on the range selected. Can anyone tell me what these numbers are telling me? I have searched the manual for this info but I am just not finding itThanks.Dennis Dennis Elliott

November 3, 201114 yr Author Thanks for the response guys.Could you clarify what the numbers mean for me. Let's say I am at the gate at Nurnberg (I just was) and I press the Terrain button, and on the display I have two 3 digit numbers...020 / 014. What are these numbers referring to exactly? Is it a measure of something in feet / meters? If I increase the range to 80 miles the top number changes to red and is now 047. What am I being told here?Thank you so much for the help everyone.Dennis. Dennis Elliott
November 3, 201114 yr It refers to the altitude of the terrain in hundreds of feet, also known as "flight levels." While FL isn't the correct term, they follow the same practice. So 020 is 2000 feet, 014 is 1400. So the lowest terrain on your display is 1400 feet, and the highest is 2000.When any number is in red, or if the terrain is red, it means it is at or above your current altitude. (PS, It may also include terrain 500 feet below you and up or something like that, but I don't know the specifics.) Eric Vander Pilot and Controller Boston Virtual ATC KATL - The plural form of cow.
