Can't get VNAV to engage

Featured Replies

He's is Level Change. I don't think there's anything called "FMS speed" and you don't need to engage anything before VNAV other than execute on the perf init.
If you cannot engage the VNAV it switched to Level Change. I'm sorry but there is something called FMS speed. It's the speed managed by the Flight management system for your information...
Thats exactly what I'm trying to do, I can set the trim but I can't see the reading on the EICAS? Kinda use to the MD11!
I think you should see the elevator indicator move as you change the trim.

Okay I got the VNAV working only after adding SP1. Now I just need to figure out how to veiw the Trim dial reading better? If I have to dial in 5.6 there is no way you can tell exactly what you have?

Rough is good enough - as long as its within the green band - do it by eye is suffecient. Otherwise for more accurate - turn on cockpit tool tips within FSX settings - it will display the figure then.

From your screenshot you posted, do you think you have enough fuel?As for trim; say 5.6 units, this dose not need to be spot on. As long as your over 5 units and under 6 units your good. Not like the takeoff rotation would be stressful at say even 5 units with CDU commanding 5.6 units.

I don't use the 2D panels, but if you hover your mouse over the trim wheel in the VC, you will see the trim values via "tool tips" then use your stick/yoke trim switch to adjust.

There's FMC SPEED which is part of VNAV. That's probably what you are referring to.

When I installed SP1, I couldn't get VNAV to engage. So I uninstalled everything and re-installed and everything works perfectly now. I'm sure that this worked for me because something was wrong on my end and not anything to do with the NGX or SP1, but if you keep having problems you may want to try this.

FMC=Flight Management ComputerFMS=Flight Management SystemI think it may or may not be the same. I was more comfortable saying system because I'm thinking about the VNAV being part of it. It can get confusing but I think you know what I'm referring to.
