November 12, 201114 yr I had a problem with my default flight so I deleted it. Next time I started FSX it gave an error message (which I ignored) but now my most of my NGX textures are low-res. I checked the Performance tool in the 737NGX directory and set all textures to HIGH. I restarted it to check they had been saved correctly, but even after createing a new default flight, rebooting twice, and checking everything again, they are still low res. The attached image is from the -600 but the same problem exists for all the other varients I have tried. On the image, note the text on the FMC and beside the spoiler compared to the buttons on the FMC. November 12, 201114 yr I assume you ran the performance manager as admin? Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64
November 13, 201114 yr Author I assume you ran the performance manager as admin? No, but I ran it a second time to check that the values were set the way I expected them. Paul Smith.
November 15, 201114 yr Author I ended up uninstalling everything and starting again from scratch. I installed FSX on a different drive and landed the default flight. I then installed Acceleration and landed the default flight again.I then installed NGX and NGX SP1. And I still have my blurry textures. I would appreciated any suggestions. Paul Smith.
November 15, 201114 yr Did you check your settings to see if the textures would have dropped in the quality slider? - David Sørensen
November 15, 201114 yr global texture resolution set to max? Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64
November 15, 201114 yr Author fsx.cfg is tuned as per the PMDG introduction and then with *******'s online tool (which is it, HIMEMFIX or HIGHMEMFIX ? ). The screen shot above was taken when the NGX was installed and before SP1. After I installed SP1, I checked the performance tool and it showed everything at High res, but restarting FSX and loading the -800 still showed the low res textures shown above. There is some hires there - check the clock face and the text on the FMC, but the low res stuff is seriously low, just look at the text on the light switches! Paul Smith.
November 15, 201114 yr Re-check in the FSX video options, in the tab where the resolution, among other things, is set. The gauges being sharp, this sounds VERY much like the global texture resolution being set to less than max.EDIT:It's in german, but it should be understandable: make sure the top right slider is FULLY to the right. November 15, 201114 yr I see that you have the AA enabled in FSX. Don't you use the settings in the Catalyst Control Center? Jack J Jackson Castalla, Alicante, Spain
November 15, 201114 yr Those are not my settings, just a picture I found. Just wanted to show which setting I mean. Disregard the other ones. :) Fabrizio Sassi
November 15, 201114 yr The Performance Manager only affects external textures. Selecting Global Texture Resolution to maximum should give you sharp VC textures.Kevin Hall
November 16, 201114 yr Author Global Texture is set at 100%. Display is set at 1920x1080@32. Paul Smith.
November 16, 201114 yr The Performance Manager only affects external textures. Selecting Global Texture Resolution to maximum should give you sharp VC textures.Kevin HallDon't think that's true.. Pretty sure the external textures stay the same. It's only the cockpitand gauge textures that get changed. Or at least I know the VC textures are changed.I can easily see the difference. To the OP.. Make sure the FSX global settings are to max..But.. also check the actual video settings and make sure they are not reduced.IE: I think mipmap detail level can effect the VC sharpness. If it set to one of the lowersettings, I've seen that happen. The program to view or change those probably varies tothe video card.. I'm using an ATI at the moment, so I use the Catalyst Control Center tosee those settings. Which you enter using display settings, and then go to "advanced".If Nvidia, probably a slightly different program, but should do about the same things.I'm pretty sure I've seen this VC reduction from using mip map settings leaning to"performance" rather than "quality". I run mine one notch from the highest setting, andI see a sharp VC. But if I run it a notch less, the VC is less sharp.Something to check anyway.. Mark Keith
November 16, 201114 yr Go into the model.cfg file of each variant and see if its set to hi-def (interior=PMDG_737_800WL_VC) or Low res interior=PMDG_737_800WL_VC_LOW)Then check the fallback folders in the texture.cfg files in your liveries to see if there set to HI def (fallback.1=....pmdg 737-800ngxtexture.vc) or low res (fallback.1=....pmdg 737-800ngxtexture.vclow). Note the 600 and 700 was not released with a low res model, but the textures would still be low res if set to it.If the for some reason the performance utility didn't set them properly, you can edit them. Then send in a support ticket to see why it's not working right. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
