$139.00US for an addon?

Featured Replies

Has anyone else seen this? http://www.flylogicsoftware.com/site/en/pr...ly_chpro_en.htmWhile this does indeed look like a very nice product I was surprised by the price. Am I missing somthing or reading this wrong? The product seems to sell for $139US which seems a bit high. Just curious if anyone has bought this one and found it to be worth that much! While I am sure I should email the company directly for info, I just thought this might be of interest here to all of you.Brew

It's expensive, but I can see it if you are into that kind of thing and have a supercomputer to run it.

Wow!! Looks okay, but $139!?!!I guess if you were Swiss, that'd be the product to have.

I dont think I would pay that much if they recreated my block my house with my car in the driveway.Andrew

If it ran well and looked good, I'd consider paying that much for a totally photoreal Arizona scenery package...

$139 Maybe if its the whole southwestern US.Andrew

Or $139 for the whole CONUS.

this is a good example of what i feel is wrong with payware.. it is to expensive for what you are gettingwhen you are paying like 3 times the money for an addon then you are for a game thats just too much. The time it takes to make an aircraft or an addon scenery is nothing even close to what it takes to actually make the sim, microsoft throws in the whole world... And tons of really not to bad planes. for like 40$I would only justify paying this much if accuracy was a must. Like training pilots for a certain area. 30$ is the average price point for pretty much every addon i dont see why this is an exception.

That sure is a lot of money for a single add-on. I guess the scenery was designed for people that fly almost exclusively in Switzerland and are more of the VFR type. But even then that is very expensive!

for 139!?! you better be able smell that air and feel that grass

And get a pound of fine Swiss chocolate with the package too..

>this is a good example of what i feel is wrong with payware..>it is to expensive for what you are gettingI think that perhaps you do not fully understand just how much work has gone into this and that the developer has had to pay for the base data, This has to be reflected in the cost.>when you are paying like 3 times the money for an addon then>you are for a game thats just too much.If you treat FS2004 as a game then I guess you may be right. This sort of addon is for serious simulation, not gaming.>microsoft throws in the whole world... And tons of really not to bad planes. for like 40$.MS aims FS2004 at the games market whereas addons are made for the serious simulator enthusiast which is a considerably smaller market. Would you like to do all the work that an addon developer does for the prices that some people reckon should be charged for their work? I wouldn't. I guess that people will vote with their wallets.I bought the VFR Photographic scenery for the UK, where I live, and it makes such a difference to the whole simulation experience. It was expensive - about the same price as Switzerland Professional - but you fly over "real" land and not synthetic scenery tiles. Worth every penny, cent, euro or whatever.David

The product uses continious aerial photos, just like Megascenery (satellite imagery) and the UK Photographic scenery (aerial photos). This produces 100% scenery accuracy (you're flying over an actual photo), but one of the drawbacks is that it's quite expensive. Buying the rights to the aerial photos of an entire country does cost quite a bit, and they need to make a profit. The UK VFR scenery had a similar price tag when it was released (it's now reduced to

No thanks! That is a rediculous amount of money for an addon. Maybe 60-80, but not a $139. Too much $$$! It does look gorgeous though, but you might as well go out pay for an air tour somewhere and get the real thing. Or better yet, enroll in flight school.

While others may think that the price is outrageous I took a quick pick at their site and I am very impressed. This is whole Switzerland and it looks damn good. Colors, textures look right on. I would say the quality is much better than what Megascenery offers - their sceneries always bothered my since they look like colored black&white photography. This one has a feel/smell of real Switzerland (and I know the country). I may actually purchase it... *:-*Michael J.
