All is revealed.....Kinect for PC

I would let the kinetic to be used by desperate housekeepers trying to get rid of their blubber.Simmers do not like such a device.
I disagree .. Kinetic could work just like a TrackIR device.

All well and good as long as you sit 8 feet away from your monitor, Kinect will not work with you sat only 2.5 feet away from the monitor.

Cheers, Andy.

Correct.

I think it works up to 4 feet away - but not from the monitor... from the Kinect. So theoretically, one could place the Kinect either well behind the monitor, or above the user's head, looking at a mirror mounted on the wall. Also, I believe those specs are so that it can read your "whole body"; if only looking for visual cues within a smaller cone of vision, it can probably work at 2 feet.

...it seems to be a new desktop version :)The article suggests 50cm....or less than 2 feet. It's basically a next gen TrackIR.

Sorry I didn't read the article, I presumed it was the existing hardware we were talking about, which quite frankly I think was a waste of £150 when I bought it.

Cheers, Andy.

I would seriously doubt a new PC version of Kinetic will be able to have the precision of TrackIR.Kinetic is mainly used to play arcade tennis and fitness programs like the ones for the Wii so I do not see a future for Kinetic within simulations.Kinetic will be fine for Flight instead.

Why not .. TrackIR has the precision needed, so why couldnt Kinetic?
