November 28, 201114 yr Author There is only one thing I can think of if it is a possibility for my issue and I just want to see what you guys think. See when my system ran on AMD chipset it was fine, then all I did was just swapout the motherboard and cpu. I did not reinstall the operating system and a fresh FSX and all the add-ons, should have I done that? I know alot of overclock sites recommend a fresh install of operating system and all software so that there isnt any problems with commmunication but I am not sure. Arslan D. U.S.M.C

I just built an i5 2500K system and tried to avoid the Win 7 64-bit reinstall. In the end, I gave up and reformated the C:/ drive and reinstalled everything. It's now running fantastically. See that is what I am worried, i just updated the chipset driver so i will see if that helps anything at all if not, tomorrow will be a full day of reinstall of everything, I am not looking forward to doing that at all. November 28, 201114 yr I hear you...and I have read advice that states that Win7 in particular can be forgiving when making a major hardware upgrade (such as a MB/CPU swap)...but the MB and chipset drivers are critical for peak performance and for avoiding future issues.Be sure to check Windows' Device Manager to spot any conflicts and to ensure that your drivers installed properly. Good luck! Wayne KlocknerUnited Virtual
November 28, 201114 yr As a note for skeptics, I do use high settings including autogen and cloud draw of 90 miles, and my point was you can really overspend on hardware such as 1200 watt power supplies with one video card and two harddrives.Needless, you may want to just go ahead and reinstall the OS and software. I haven't done it during my last couple of MB/processor upgrades but want to do it anyway. I just wish everything worked worse to justify doing it. With the reinstallation, you can make sure you have the latest drivers for your specific setup. It scares me a bit that you went from AMD to Intel without doing a reinstall as I am reasonably certain you have a lot of conflicts that are probably slowing you down. Enjoy your 2500k with FSX. The pain of the reinstall will likely be worth every minute instead of constantly fighting problem after problem.
November 28, 201114 yr Hey Paul, don't take Jeroen's comments the wrong way, he's a good guy over on the Orbx forum. The problem with forums is you never get to hear someones' intination in their voice! In fact I agree with everything Jeroen said and I'm sure the last on his mind is to upset someone. Besides, I didn't think anything was particulalry aimed at you personally Paul, anyway, have a good day fellas. Thank you, thank you! @Paul J: sorry if I offended you (or anyone) in any way, that wasn't my intention at all!!! I was talking in general (even though I used diajohn's post as an example) and I just wanted to make clear that a lot of advice, as good as it is, isn't complete without adding some FSX-settings... Now that we know diajohn is using high autogen settings, his previous posts now have a context which makes it far more usefull for the OP and others too! Posting on forums is a dangerous thing indeed and the fact that English isn't my native language doesn't help either...

One thing i noticed was that my HDD was constently searching even at idle on just the windows screen. I reinstalled my OS from scratch and all my necessary drivers and the HDD isnt doing anything unless i open a application up. I will repost my results as soon as i have installed FSX with service packs and all my addons and hopefully i have better news. Arslan D. U.S.M.C
November 28, 201114 yr Author If anyone can comment on this, i have read numerous articles stating that the GTX 460 is the best FSX GPU because it runs the same as a GTX 560 would because of how FSX processes graphics, since my PC is FSX use only I dont want to spend $300+ on a GPU when I can get a GTX 460 for like $130, so if anyone can confirm this as their set up or their thoughts on this? November 28, 201114 yr Sorry for the mistake of English. I'm from Brazil, I'm new here and use GoogleTranslate.I want to thank everyone on this site, it is of great importance, where I'm taking all the doubts in choosing the computer for FSX.flight1986, I'm already two weeks analyzing everything about computers, I'm in the same boat as you. Which GPU to choose? In my case I am building a i7-2600k, Corsair HX 850, 500GB HD SATA3, P8Z68Deluxe/Gen3, 4GB Kingston Ram, ATX Chassis BX1 Sentey-4285, Hydro CoolerH60.In a matter of choice, I'm going to have the best, but if money is tight, I'm taking theram and GPU cheaper because I still have to buy the Saitek controllers. Here on the site, I saw a lot and also the recommendation that staff uses GTX 580and GTX 570. About the GTX 460, I saw very little comment, but I'm between 520GT or AMD for that I am still thinking. But six months from now I will buy the GTX 580.Any doubt I am to help. “Morre lentamente, quem não viaja, quem não lê, quem não ouve música e quem não acha graça de si mesmo.” - Paulo André Metchko

I went out and got a GTX 550 ti, I went to Frys electronics, and spoke to the tech guys there and they said that they have had numerous people bring back their 570s and 580s fried, supposdley they run too hot. They recommened either 550 ti or 560 ti. One of the guys there actually has a full cockpit at home and he uses 550 ti's so I got it and will post my results, the 580 looked interesting but i took their word and will see. Arslan D. U.S.M.C
November 29, 201114 yr Get a 560ti, not the 550.Yes FSX is more heavilty reliant on CPU. But when you start using addons and cranking the AA and AF levels you'll notice the difference with a faster (and newer) card. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
November 29, 201114 yr Author Ryan,I wanted to get the 560 ti but they did not have any left at Frys only 570s and 580s. And they had the best price for a EVGA GTX 560 ti for only 189 on sale but they wont get any for atleast couple of weeks they said. The tech there recommended the MSI N550GTX-TI Afterburner and gave me settings to overclock it which brings it close to the 560s capability. So we will see.Torker,I was thinking about using my AMD x4 platform and building a small pc to run along side of my i5 but not sure how i will go about connecting them to communicate properly without data loss. November 30, 201114 yr Gave no other. I got an HD 5670 for $ 71.50.Tight money, but just not to run out the video card, here six months, to lower the price, buy the GTX 580.When you put the photos of the cockpit. I am amazed at the people who buildcomplete cockpit, but expensive. Here's the video of Mauricio, who built a flight simulator and real.It invested more than $ 58,000.00 !!!!! November 30, 201114 yr Author hey guys, so here it is all update and addons are back on. LIttle issue left my FPS are always around 30 but it seems like the scenery is loading much faster then the aircraft as it flies and is causing stuttering and its strange, any ideas? Arslan D. U.S.M.C
