NGX and FlyTampa TNCM

Featured Replies

Hey guys,After a troubleshooting process with FlyTampa, I've related the problem I've been having with fullscreen/windowed form back to the NGX. Is anyone else having this problem? I can't switch between windowed forms withough everything going crazy. It sounds like the same problem that people have with the ENB mod, which I'm not using. Any insight anyone? Thanks

I had similar issues with some planes/places when I had an ATI card, but have no idea what causes it.

Can anyone confirm that it has to do with an ATI card?

What is the problem, Cameron? Did you post more info maybe in a different thread somewhere? "everything going crazy" isn't really much to go on, nor is saying "Sounds like the same problem that people have with the ENB mod" if people don't know what the ENB mod problem your talking about is either. Not sure what you're talking about other than black screens but I think that has less characters typing that than "everything is going crazy". I can confirm that nothing out of the ordinary happens when I change from Full screen to windowed mode at FT TNCM in the NGX, either at day or night but still leaves a whole lot to the imagination for anyone trying to help you. I use a nVidia card. Shade will also cause the black screens that ENB did, if that is what you're talking about here (just not nearly as much).

FSX (and FS9 before it) has ALWAYS had strange problems with switching between full and windowed, Alt-Tabbing etc - it's a combination of the sim, the video drivers and GDI+. The NGX uses more GDI+ gauges than basically any other addon out there, that's probably why it happens more frequently. Nothing at all we can do about this unfortunately - we don't make any of the things that are involved in it. My advice is just to fly in windowed mode if you need to be accessing things outside of FSX while flying.

Since about one year, I fly only in windowed mode due to these problems. I agree, at first having the menubar and top windowsbar visible is annoying, but after a while you'll get used to it and eventually you don't even notice it anymore.Follow Ryan's advice. It's the best, if not only, solution for this issue.

You guys are good. You can assume he's talking about Alt+Tabbing from "going crazy"? My hats off to you both, your diagnostic skills are far above mine haha.If that is so though, yeah, the Alt+Tab isn't a video card issue, nor is a driver issue (according to Nvidia), it is a window problem. But that has nothing at all to do with windowed mode and full screen. At least not for me. Just Alt+Enter, the way it's suppose to be done for us simmers. I too fly windowed normally but it depends. He stated he doesn't use ENB so sorry but Alt+Tab is not what I see him saying here. If he did have ENB related issues then yes, changing the DX window in either Alt+Entering or any meny access at all would produce a "going crazy" effect I guess.

Yes, use ALT-ENTER instead and you are out of these problems Cameron.I always do that, if I have to go to menu or if I have to go to my deskboard, then I just minimize it after ALT-ENTER./ Leffe

I dont know how I ended up using, but many years I only use CTRL+ALT+ ENTER to switch between fullscreen/windowed /fullscreen and never have any problems.

Not sure why you showing your taskbar cause I am not. I have a blue theme so when I am windowed mode it just shows the top of the top windows bar in blue and with a blue sky its hardly noticable. If you resize the window manually so it covers the whole screen then click the box in the middle so its maximized your taskbar will never show up. If you hold the alt key down the FSX menu at the top also dissappears. So all you really have showing is the 1 windows bar. Look at the image below. Not really that bad or noticeable. While you do get a lttle more FPS in Full Screen I will take Stability any day especially since I multitask a lot during the flight.ngxvirtualcockpit.jpg

Edit: I see what you mean now, you meant the FSX menu bar not the Taskbar.

This guy hates me :I have posted with this problem, probably for the 5th time, so YES I have posted this issue before. I'd like to know though why I am having issues with this and your not. I'll try ALT+ENTER and report back. I've just been using CTRL+ALT+DELETE then opening up the task manager to get FSX into windowed form. We shall see how this will work...Thanks for the help so far guys!No such luck :( In doing so again, at FT TNCM with the NGX, going into windowed form (which I need to do to launch RC4) I return to see the cockpit of my 738 is gone but all the gauges are still present :S Invisible flying anyone?

Who hates you? Me? Why for trying to help? My point in asking if you posted this before was because you seemed to state what you did leaving a lot out. If you posted before find that post and update it, then people like me can see the whole thing. Anyway,,, why TNCM? I mean have you tried several other airports? Oh, and near water? I can't see any connection with TNCM but I can possibly water + *******'s shader fix + etc... If you need to CTRL+ALT+DEL to go "INTO" windowed mode then you have the most unique issue I ever heard of since it's normally only the other way around. Alt+Tab has never worked but also never heard of anyone that couldn't Alt+Enter and have problems that wasn't running ENB or Shade. You say you still see gauges though so that doesn't sound like anything down that road either. I've seen a few screenshots in other posts here lately with people losing the dash and sounds like maybe your problem you're having. Look for them and see if they are the same.A possible solution based on what you said, is to start FSX in windowed mode, then Alt+Enter to get into it after starting RC, not the other way around.
