Question about runway textures...

Featured Replies

If we use the runway textures provided in AS2012, do they overwrite textures in add-on airports too? I know the standard FSX textures are not great but I'm happy with the ones included with pay airports generally.

Hi, I dont think it will ovrewrite scenery addons unless they use the generic one from FSX in the scenery.

Kind Regards

HI Eric,it wont because if it was the case, all scenery addons will overwrite each others.

Kind Regards

I can confirm that AS2012 has not overwriten any addon airport textures on my system.

Add-on airports like UK2000 VFR Airfields volume 1 to 3 will be overwritten because the use default runway textures, but anything with a custom built runway model and texture will obviously not be changed. That's like expecting the colour of your hair to change because you just had new tires fitted to your car. Although saying that if those tires were going on a Bugatti Veyron your hair probably would change colour, to grey, they cost $20,000 per set!! lol.

Cheers, Andy.

AS2012 overwrite my Orbx payware addons runway textures ! Restore backup made it even worse ! Now, I have to reinstall everything ! Everything, all addons, all simconnect settings ! Thanks AS2012 for ruining all my FSX joy !Ahh by the way, because of overwriting, my FPS drops to 15 from constant 30 !

Hi' date='I dont think it will ovrewrite scenery addons unless they use the generic one from FSX in the scenery.[/quote']Orbx does use a custom runway 18 texture for all of the airfields in the add on region packs. (installed via the aero interface)The addon individual airfields use a custom poly.

I don't know what Orbx does, but my advice to everyone here who use Orbx airport, just AVOID AS2012 runway textures....AVOID them like a plaque. I lost all my FSX install, right now even can't activate it. I have to format all my harddisk. All my week ruined by AS2012 and Orbx wrong manuals !

All you had to do is uncheck the runway textures in the Graphics/Install Options of AS 2012.
