Maintain 170knots to the outer marker

Recommended Posts

The ridiculousness is derived from a legal aspect. I really would have a hard time in court justifying a 250kt to the marker instruction to a plane if they end up off the runway.
Not when you have F16's mixed in with civilian... that's what we do in Duluth. I've not used 250 to the marker but I've used 230 with a RJ...edit: I should remark that the PIC will let us know if they cannot do it - and they do! Edited by ryanbatcund

Are we still talking about this?If the plane can do it, the pilots can do it. ATC won't ask for it. Simple.

I got an idea to put this thread to rest. Fly 250 kts to the outter marker with the NGX at Flaps 1. Extend the Gear at the outter marker and see if your able to slow down to your final approach speed before touching down on the runway.

All well and good, but nobody suggested the NGX could do it. The reference was mainly to the Restart Jets (RJs).

I haven't attempted it from 5nm out (FAF), but I detailed doing it from 8nm out in this thread a few days ago.
