If we chose to opt for P3D..

Can all you not be patient? A consumer pricing scheme for FSX users will come soon. Just hold on. I bet you there will be a consumer pricing option before the end of 2012.Aaron G.

You're assuming that the only thing that is holding LM back is the contract with Microsoft, whereas I doubt that they have any interest in entering the consumer software market, regardless of the legalities.
Your probably right, but there have been hints of including a wider community, so it was just a thought... regarding the engine. Time will tell.
As P3D is today, its superior to FSX on my system, I'm already ahead of the game.
May I ask what improvements have they made to it that makes it superior? Have you not had any compatibility issues?

Here are a few things to understand:1. If you purchase the $9.99/mo option, then let your subscription expire, Prepar3D stops working. Period.2. The only way to guarantee longevity at this point is to purchase the full $499 version. It will run forever without restriction, but you'll have to pay some as-yet-announced amount for any major version updates.

Hi Jason,Only compatibility issues if add-on's rely on VS2007 as Prepar3D uses VS2010 and the two can not reside within the same operating system. Some add-on developers have already changed their code to reflect this.Contrary to many proclamations Prepar3D is not FSX(SP3). It's origins started as ESP, of which the majority of the code that your don't see has been re-written. In it's current state, Prepar3D is, well, Prepar3D. At this point, it can be considered a stand alone platform.

Cheers,

There never was an "SP3" for FSX. ESP1 was nothing more-nor-less than the FSX+SP2 code forked over to a new name.Don't believe me? Simply do a line-by-line comparison of the FSX SDK vs. Prepar3D SDK. Both are free to download, so there's not excuse for not doing so...

Are you saying that P3D will not run if you are not on-line?

The wording in the EULA means nothing more than what one of the guys a LM said himself....they wont have it sitting next to COD:25 in BestBuy on the shelf....Why would LM want to be known as a gaming complany like the likes of EA?That is all...Now.....lets look at the bigger picture....a hope of a better platform for FSX and our sim.

No, but it does "phone home" briefly to validate the dev's license is still current. The $499 version does not "phone home."
