You Hate Flight - I Get It - When Will Your Anger be Over?

Honestly, I'm hoping to convince Tom and the rest of the BoD to flush this forum and allow all this to disappear into the dustbin...I'd love to see this forum become a place where the new blood that Flight will attract -no matter how much the doom sayers object- so that they'll have a friendly place to gather.Eventually some of them will start to read the FS9, FSX, Scenery and Aircraft and Panel forums, and can thereby be introduced to the wonders of a truly global environment, a Living World, AI aircraft, et cetera, as well as the joys of having unrestricted development possibilities! :(

It's all talk anyway, Bill. And, it's not like anyone in Redmond is listening. Plus, it would be better for my ulcer to not have my expectations lifted then dropped every few days. One day it's look for the hidden folders and those leading just-wait-and-see comments by the beta-testers, the next it's the end of the quickest beta in history and the announcement of a leap year release date and some sort of paltry DLC offering (maybe April 1st would have been a better red letter day). Oh, and don't forget to add the unending polyanna commentary from Josh and the Amazing Technicolor Spin Machine just for spite. Damnit, I'm monologuing again in vent mode. Sorry. Oh, well, I'll find the door on my own. Or, maybe I'll stick around for some more entertainment until the forum is flushed.

+1; Very important! The most disappointing thing about flight is the lack of SDK... No SDK, I'm not interested and nobody should even if you're not a developer. There is not even the possibility to make freeware addons, that's just sad.

What needs to happen is a subforum needs to be created in which one of the rules is no comparison with or discussion of MS Flight Simulator is allowed. All 30 people who are interested can congregate there and can discuss the handful of planes and islands that make up FLIGHT. A sub-forum is all it deserves.
This is already a sub-forum.
This will not end. FLIGHT does nothing other than to confirm killing of the "Microsoft Flight Simulator" series
Provide some FACTS to substantiate that.... Otherwise it is just blather. You can't, and your opinion is about as valid as anyone else's, including those that see FLIGHT as a positive thing.

On my way out the door...

Otherwise it is just blather.
Tom, at this point in this forum, it's all blather. And, I'll include my own posts in that. Actually, the mood in here has gone black, it's virulent. And, yes, I just read your Get A Grip post. In fact, I'm having to edit this post right now because I hadn't seen your post first. In my previous edition, I wished you luck in trying to bring reason back to this forum. I also suggested that there were "patriots on both sides" of the issues. However, I can't argue with Rush.
Will there be a day when I could post something like: "Hey guys, I need help finding the Kayaker. . . " without getting responses that just complain and seem to try to convice me to not enjoy what I'm doing?
Seriously, he should be able to get that information without being accosted. How can one disagree that this subforum should be about Flight to support its users? It's just all too bad. I became hopeful about Flight. I heard about improvements in the program (two steps forward), but the geographical and functional limitations don't work for me (one step back, or maybe two, or three). I still will give it an honest try, but until I'm able to recreate what I currently enjoy in FSX, I'm not really interested. So, therefore, until I'm a user, I really have no need to post in this forum. Got it.But, I can't shake the feeling that the door is hitting me in the arse on the way out. Why? Because I drank Josh's Kool-Aid. I had convinved myself, in some sort of delusion, that Flight was the next step in the legacy of the franchise (can you hear the marketing speak now?). I felt that people like me -- like my friend Doctor Jim and my late, great friend George Stevens -- who had become more serious about MSFS might actually be stakeholders again after the disbanding of ACES. Nope. Not now. And, Josh Howard's revealing passage in yesterday's interview regarding "hard-core" simmers and whole world scenery was the coup-de-grace. Now, Tom, I bet even you can feel the sting of that one.Oh, well, back to your original point, Tom. It's all talk. No, it's all blather. Okay, good luck riding out the turbulence. Regards -- Dana

The naysayers will lose interest in Flight before too long and this sub-forum will be populated by people who actually enjoy Flight for what it is, but aside from personal attacks I don't see anything wrong with criticisms at this time.

Although I loathe "The Sims", I've never gone to their forums where they talk about the game and passionately bash the game with all the reasons I don't like it. Ya know what I'm saying?
The difference is that none of these people "bashing" Flight loath it, otherwise you can bet they wouldn't waste their time here either, they are/were as passionate about Flight as any of the supporters. Since the product isn't officially released yet and MS continue to dangle a carrot of "we can take this anywhere" in front of us all, nobody can really say what it's going to look like in a years time. (IMO) It's that doubt that keeps the stragglers holding on and venting their dissapointment as more info comes in, you can't expect these people to go somewhere else just because you happen to enjoy the product. It comes down to two different views on Flight and I believe they should both be represented here, not one or the other.

Hi, Fsau. Your post articulates why I came to this subforum recently. I had been enjoying FSX for a few years now, for better or worse. I just thought there had to be something better (tried XP, not for me). But, the promise of a new simulator from MS that might just perform better than FSX had me intrigued. And, the preview screenshots showed good aircraft in good scenery without any visual cues to a game aspect (the dreaded gold coins). So, I followed the trail to AVSIM to learn more. Unfortunately, I arrived just in time to get the lowdown on Tom's field trip to Redmond and the subsequent letdowns regarding CES.So, what am I to do? After sleeping on it, I decided that it was time to leave the subforum. I mean this really should be a place for people to get advice, post screenshots, and share their experiences with Flight. And, I respect that. Besides, some of the exchanges have become personal. However, I suggested in my post above that there truly are "patriots on both sides" of the issues around Flight. I edited it out of my original post, but I suggested, tongue in cheek, that Tom create two different sub-forums. One could be for the usual Flight related sharing and helping, the other could be for venting. And, venting, not the personal attacks, is actually helpful. In one way, it helps some of us to express our frustration with what we believe are miscommunications and unfulfilled expectations from MS. It also identifies opportunities for MS to correct misperceptions and to hear ideas that might enhance the product and attract an even wider customer base. Or it would, if MS were really listening. It just seems like we're all talking to ourselves. So, thanks for your thoughtful post. But, I'll be going now.
