February 10, 201214 yr Hey.I would like to know what you guys think is a best flight planning tool. I currently use FSBuild2 but for example I can not properly configure fuel loads (too messy and my fuel calculator input is in time not fuel weight, so I dont know what weight to put there) because templates are crap and no timeframes and so on. Also I fly VATSIM so it should have online ATC support. Built in fuel calculator wouldnt hurt.Thanks. Raimo Ingland
February 10, 201214 yr Take a look at vRoute. It has a freeware version with reduced functionality. The pay ware version is what I've been using for a while.
February 10, 201214 yr vRoute is great, I agree with Mike. I use it (the freeware version) combined with the good old FSNav.You may also wish to wait a bit as a great piece of flightplanning software (PFPX) is on its way: http://www.pfpx.com/
February 10, 201214 yr Author Yes, PFPX has been on my must-get list for a long time. Too bad its allways postponed and probably not released before 2013. Will give vRoute a try.Thanks. Raimo Ingland
February 10, 201214 yr helloFor Vatsim use I would say Vroute Premium, just surprised you do not already have it.For my own use I mostly use FScommander or occasionally FSbuild or Vroute

February 10, 201214 yr Author Got me a vRoute. Its pretty good planning tool and when couple it with TOPCAT I get almost perfect results.Thanks. Raimo Ingland
February 10, 201214 yr Commercial Member I find this a handy tool for routes as I can access it from my Iphone and dont need to install anything, and TOPCAT for fuel calculations. http://www.flightsim...ht_planner.htmlPFPX is created by the same guys that made TOPCAT correct? Definietly on my list of purchases when it becomes available.Regards Rob Prest
February 10, 201214 yr Author Yes, PFPX is from creators of TOPCAT. Edited February 10, 201214 yr by PhOeNiX Raimo Ingland
February 10, 201214 yr How about flying real-world flight routes? This is what I use:1) GET THE REAL-WORLD FLIGHT ROUTE: http://flightaware.com/statistics/ifr-route/2) CREATE THE FSIM ROUTE HERE BASED ON ABOVE: http://www.simroutes.com/fb2/ParseRoute.aspx3) GET FUEL INFO HERE: http://fuel.aerotexas.com/4) LISTEN TO LIVE OR RECORDED ATC HERE: http://www.liveatc.net/Best regards,Kerke
February 11, 201214 yr Author Well as a member of BAv, I often use actual BA operational routes. Raimo Ingland
February 11, 201214 yr Author Also why I use flight planning software is because I print out my flight plans as part of flightbag with all the charts, so I want them with proper time tables, fuel calculations, WX data, weights, waypoints and all that in orderly fashion. Also seems like http://www.simroutes.com/fb2/ParseRoute.aspx AIRAC is out of date. Edited February 11, 201214 yr by PhOeNiX Raimo Ingland
