Opinions needed about the GTX 580!

Featured Replies

Best video card ever for me so far. I upgraded to a water-cooled eVGA 580 Hydrocopper II from an air cooled superclocked 480. At 1000 MHz shader clock and 2200 MHz memory clock, I can run 8xS AA plus 2x SGSS transparency AA on a 2560 x 1600 SHD monitor and still keep frames smooth in the 20s (sometimes dipping into the teens in heavy scenery). The water cooling eliminates the dustbuster-like cooling fan noise, and keeps the GPU temp at a comfy 32 deg C. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Yes again.

Have the Asus version. Very happy with it, especillally the low noise and temp. Been a loyal Asus user for 20 years and they have never failed on me.

Quite.

Indeed. :Big Grin:
That's because he rebuilt his system and reinstalled everything. That can do wonders. High FSX settings are the main cause of stutters. I don't see them often but I do get them occasionally. Depends on where I'm flying and in what scenery/aircraft. It's not enough for me to get upset though. FSX uses the CPU more than the GPU. In previous versions of FS, it was the reverse. You can reduce stuttering but doubt you'll ever get rid of all of it as the FSX engine is very old and based on old tech.Best regards,Jim
The board was unstable, so I repalced it.Cheers from"Another guy in this forum"
