February 19, 201214 yr so, today i had a lot of free time, so i started to check somethings that i saw when i have been in the cockpit, so i remembered that i saw the captain showing me that no matter what we will do with the alearons and the rudder trim there's a button that if you'r clicking on it it will reset it.today i have been tried to find this button without luck, can anyone confirm that this button is actually there?thanks.(: Daniel choen

February 19, 201214 yr I'm not sure I know what "resetting trim" would actually mean. I'm never aware of how many degrees of trim I might have cranked in while flying unless I look at the index pointer, the trim is set to minimize control pressures. Can't think of any reason to move the trim to an arbitrary value except for pre-takeoff configuration. My guess is you may have mis-interpreted what the capt'n was telling you. Dan Downs KCRP
February 19, 201214 yr Commercial Member A button to reset the trim sounds really dangerous in any aircraft to me. You would not want to have the possibility of the control forces suddenly increasing instantaneously like that. Definitely nothing like this on any airplane (commercial or GA) that I've ever seen. And indeed any other Airbus model after that.kind regards Edited February 19, 201214 yr by FirstOfficera320 Martin DahlerupMy rig contains a random selection of computer parts working in perfect harmony.... I hold a EASA fATPL + A320 SIC rating and a FAA CPL with CFI rating.
February 20, 201214 yr On the a320 the RUDDER TRIM reset button resets the rudder trim, and it is something that you need to do for example in case of engine restart (or loss) in flight, to reset the trim in a way faster than normal. But it is only for rudder, the only surface with great changes of values due to winds, engine and so on. The reset will work when in manual mode or, in auto mode the rudder trim will reset to 0 when landing.PS: in the airbus the trim is part of the fly by wire system, trim will affect the calculation of the surface deflections. The 737 is a bit different but not too much, the 737 uses electric actuators to move the feel and centering cams to recenter the column, the wheel, the pedals, this flight deck control movements will reflect (as all controls are driven by cables) to the surfaces.
