March 3, 201214 yr Hi,sorry if this has been answered but I could not find anything using the search function. I see at the XBox Marketplace that two additional products have been added for Flight. They are simply designated as "trial" versions of the Maule and Mustang, but there is no further information I could find pertaining to exactly what this means.Does anyone know? Are they time limited, feature limited, geography limited or a combination of these for example? Thanks
March 3, 201214 yr I was able to download both as a result of me being a beta tester. The P-51 has no cockpit so is basically eye candy from the outside. The Maule is quite a plane and would recommend getting it.

When you download them you can check them out in the Hangar when you click on the icon of the airplane (without downloading them you will see nothing).2. When you play multiplayer and someone who does own a plane you don't own, you will see a UFO instead of the actual plane: if you have downloaded the preview, you will see the actual plane
March 3, 201214 yr Author Thanks. I guess I was hoping they might have let you actually fly them as a limited demo or similar, but that makes sense. Thanks again.
March 3, 201214 yr Moderator they do seem rather pricey. the full ones not the previews :PPricey? Even ABACUS' aircraft are more expensive! :LMAO: Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
March 3, 201214 yr Moderator dont get me started on aftermarket a/c prices for previous FS versions ;)That's my point though. Do you think Real Air's prices are high? Now compare that against $15.00 US...Seriously, the Maule and/or Van's is really top quality! It's a no-brainer. Fr. March 3, 201214 yr well it is for me, im not a huge fan of them. but i would like a nice baron or something ;)
March 4, 201214 yr And for me........I'll take a AT-6 and please add that snarl of the engine on take off !
March 4, 201214 yr The Maule is cheap by comparison. It's a incredible aircraft. The cockpit is simply drop dead gorgeous and sounds great.. $20 is cheap compared to what I've paid for similar aircraft in FSX. March 4, 201214 yr Author I would like to tell you what the last $15 third party payware aircraft was like (bought since 2004) compared to the 2012 Flight RV-6 that was included with a large number of beautifully rendered airports. But since I want to be fair to other developers, I won't mention names apart from saying there is no comparison whatsoever in quality. The Microsoft aircraft is far ahead in every possible way. Come to think of it, the last time I even bought a payware aircraft for $15 was back around 2005 I think, and it was extremely basic, both visually and in terms of function.I did initially suffer from a bit of sticker shock when I realised how much I will be paying out for Flight add-ons, but I am very comfortable knowing that I am going to receive excellent value for money.

I can imagine the MS Flight planes are a lot better then the 2005 addon you bought, but I can assure you that compared to some addon planes from last year or this year, the MS Flight offerings are nice but far from complete... Lately I am used to being able to operate each and every knob and swith in an addon airplane: I can't do that in the MS Flight planes. They are limited. They remind me of Carenado planes: good looks, not too much depth. At the same time I have to say that current FSX GA addons usually don't cost 15 bucks but more something like 25 to 35. SO the MS Flight addons simply give you what you can expect for the money: not much more, not much less.Anyway, comparing MS Flight planes with addons from 2005 isn't helping anyone.
March 4, 201214 yr Commercial Member What sets newer Microsoft airplanes present in FSX and Flight apart from 3rd party payware is the fact that they are of very even quality in all respects. It's not rare to have a mid-range payware aircraft with excellent external model, but with very moderate or outright poor gauges, or an airliner with excellent 2D panels, but poor VC and external model.Too bad Microsoft chose to end 3rd party access to SDK and won't be competing on an open market. The sky up above is so much bluer.
