March 4, 201214 yr After my initial positive posts about 'autogen as far as the eye can see' I have to say I was wrong. More and more I notice autogen popping up and quite obviously too, sometimes nearby, in large groups at once. It seems the houses don't pop up, at least I can't remember seeing them popup, which led me to believe that maybe alpha fading is used for houses, but the trees defenitely do NOY use alpha fading, to my big disappointment...Do you also notice trees popping up?I have an i5 [email protected] and a GTX580. I already set Shadows from Maximum to High, but maybe I should also set the other Maximum settings to High...? Apart from preventing the still present blurries, this may also help getting autogen to load a bit sooner...?But what really surprises me is that the trees don't fade in, as I hoped they would. Or better said, as I certainly expected they would... This is one of my biggest disappointments when it comes to MS Flight. I didn't expect the two biggest faults in FSX to show up in MS Flight!Don't get me wrong, MS Flight will stay my GA sim, but I hope MS will have another look at this...
March 4, 201214 yr I have everything except texture quality and weather quality, set to maximum. The latter two are set to high, only because that is the highest setting I am offered for those two.I have not noticed any items popping up yet, especially like they do in FSX. Maybe I just haven't spent enough time in it yet, I have probably about 3 hours logged , most of that time doing the 4 missions and then a few challenges.I will try to be more perceptive of the scenery and see what I notice the more time I spend with it. I also have not purchased the Hawaii pack yet as well, all my time has been spent on the core product on the big island. My system is running at 4.1 ghz with a GTX 460 1gb ram video card. It is an EVGA SSC, so it is already overclocked somewhat from the factory. Don B
March 4, 201214 yr I've noticed that, while they don't fade in, they appear one by one as you draw closer rather than a whole bunch of them suddenly appearing like in FSX. March 4, 201214 yr Turn up the graphics settings. I forget which one, as I am on my iPad, but with higher settings, that essentially disappears. We are all connected..... March 4, 201214 yr I've noticed that, while they don't fade in, they appear one by one as you draw closer rather than a whole bunch of them suddenly appearing like in FSX.Yes, quite often they come one by one but I've also seen complete forests pop up... The next time I will check if the houses pop up too: I never see autogen houses from far away, only when I am close, but I never notice them popping up.I will also give the various High and Maximum a try, compare some screenshots to see how big the differences are. (Pity you can't really pause the sim for that).Turn up the graphics settings. I forget which one, as I am on my iPad, but with higher settings, that essentially disappears.I have everything on maximum already. I am thinking about LOWERING the settings to give the system more space and prevent blurries and maybe also popping up AG. Edited March 4, 201214 yr by J van E
March 4, 201214 yr Yep normally off from the centre you see each tree popping up, quite fast, but it has mad rush at drawing loads of them. Best noticed when flying in spot view, and it's often off to the far left and right of the screen Regards James Carr
March 4, 201214 yr On max settings I notice no pop ups. I will look harder since perhaps it's just beneath the threshold of my perception. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... March 4, 201214 yr I don't notice the popups either on max settings. I know my friend that doesn't have a good video card gets pops though.
March 4, 201214 yr Flight probably does not have much in the core engine that resembles FS code, but many of the techniques, particularly those related to performance, are very similar. In particular, the popping of autogen, the LOD detail radius, the LOD models in all objects. These were all present in FS and they are there in Flight as well. While they are certainly issues and detract from the enjoyment, I wouldn't call them bugs at all. We are still in a very primitive stage of computer development and those are necessary trade-offs at the moment that ensure performance is acceptable on most systems. And it certainly seems to be.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
March 4, 201214 yr The autogen is culled by size and distance, so if you have an area where a lot of the vegetation or buildings are similar sizes, the autogen can pop in and out in patches. This effect is actually worse on Maximum Scenery Density settings where the max draw distance is higher. Using High Scenery Density settings can help for now until hopefully the settings for Maximum are tweaked.
March 4, 201214 yr Thanks Stone !Nice to see one of the Dev team here and Welcome !Fred. Edited March 4, 201214 yr by RYR738 Frederic Steiner.

March 5, 201214 yr I was trying to post that high is where I see popup, but somehow that reply ended up in another thread. (too many screens open as I flit all over the web) We are all connected.....
